This bar is the best bar I have seen in ages. To the people and the bar staff to the decorative part of this bar. Amazaazing I even lost my purse, someone handed it in. Thank you to that person. It's rare and so kind. I went alone and came back making friends. DEFINITELY GO!
Simply one of the best pubs in the country. Especially for us alts, Rockers, metals heads, goths and misfits. But the staff are so friendly and funny and anyone is welcome. Great selection on the jukebox too. Crazy shots / cocktails too, if you wanna mix things up. Other thing I noticed through my years of popping in here, the prices are very reasonable for a city centre pub. Keep up the good work Giffard crew
A top night anytime i've gone there over the last 20+ odd years. Great atmosphere, friendly and great music. Old school vibes galore! A Place I need to come to more distance is a b*tch. Cheers
Played here with my band. Obviously we are brilliant, so as a musician great venue, brilliant sound and sound engineer was awesome. As a pub, good for queuing at the bar, sitting outside or in and peeing next to some guy called Terry.
I used to drink here back in the early 90's, since then before last night I'd only visited once... Not sure why. We visited last night, started off in the city had something to eat, thought we'd pop down and we were so glad we did. An eclectic mix of rock and metal was being played from the pulpit which complimented the eclectic mix of clientele. The doorman who asked to check my wife's bag on the way in was polite and professional. The place was buzzing despite people queuing at the bar 3/4 deep at times there wasn't much of a wait to be served. The drinks were reasonably priced and bar staff friendly and efficient. Had a brilliant night and will definitely be returning.
A great atmosphere, nice drinks and good music, gets very busy and packed as the night goes on but there's an upstairs as well that plays different music and a stage you can go on to dance and show off your moves.
Fantastic venue, one of my faves great staff, fantastic cocktails! Great prices. Great for live music. And the famous chair!
Great place this, if you are into gothic, Edgar Allan Poe, pit and the pendulum movies etc...Coffin shaped tables, a chair that looks like it's out of medieval times and a great atmosphere. Very friendly, welcoming and spot on beer. For something different than the usual run of the mill chain pub, you won't do much better than this place...
Loved it ere atmosphere really nice people friendly. Landlord very pleasant and welcoming. Pub is fantastic . Coffin lid table tops very unusual but really good they have even got a devils chair. For you to sit on and photos taken it's an amazing place to go and av a pint.
I hadn't been to the Gifford for fifty years my son's who are 39 and 30 have been going for years I'm by no means a rocker but it brought back happy memories hope the Gifford keeps on rocking for another fifty years
