Excellent meal here yesterday. Great service and beautiful food. Would have been a great view too if not pitch black and raining! Bread was gorgeous with chilli and dried tomatoes, our friend Gav was trying to lick his plate after the lamb, cheese board had good variety and even water for table had cucumber added for a little extra taste. Definitely will be returning. Only downside is if you have disability you'll have a problem wirh stairs as it is aptly named

Like its name, a cellar. It's entry appears so ordinary and out of nowhere amongst the restaurants competing for your attention this just reels u in and deposits u into the bowels of Durham town. Suddenly you are in this simple but elegantly dressed restaurant, delicate table settings and my favourite center piece , the plants. That said , the dish for the day for me was the sea trout. Every dish was beautifully presented as well as tasty and flavoursome. No loud music, just the whispers and gentle taking in the background. Shame it was only on our way out that we noticed the piano. This is an excellent place to try out Durham's culinary skills.

Great food and great service from the very friendly staff!
 Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Dining here was a great. The December menu was available and had a variety of christmassy meals and a few standard ones. The food served tasted great and was presented very well. Staff were very friendly and attentive despite the fact there was a large party at one of the tables.
