Nothing but exceptional Sunday lunch! Surprisingly fine food and super friendly service, with stunning river views. Someone in that kitchen is both very creative and an excellent chef. Highly recommended Sunday lunch 3-course menu. The Arancini starter was an experience in itself!
Started with the sea bass which was really tasty and full of flavour. For main it was salmon and the venison Wellington. Again the food was excellent. The place had a nice relaxed feel, though great care was taked with social distancing and bio-security. Will definitely be back when we next visit Durham
Everything you'd want for romantic dinner: kind helpful service, breath taking good food, great whisky, cocktails and coffee. Barmy evening out in the terrace overlooking the river a bonus. We loved it. Warning: The depth of flavours made sharing each other's dishes a necessity.
Fantastic food, great service and brilliant value. We enjoyed a 3 course meal, for three with wine and peppermint tea. The Bill was £120 before tip. The ambience was relaxed, the service was excellent and we had a great evening.
The Cellar Door remains one of the best restaurants in Durham. Beautiful food, well presented and tremendous service. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Great meal for my birthday in March 2020 just before lockdown. Would like to go back in Summer.
