The Cathedral Hotel late night bar and music: a chance for you guys to share all your selfies and entertainment with us

We will keep you guys updated!

Story

The Hotel consists of 20 bedrooms and is located in the heart of Salisbury, just a few minutes’ walk from the Salisbury Cathedral, shops, restaurants and local attractions. We are just 20 minutes’ drive from Stonehenge and the rolling countryside of Wiltshire, with all its historical gardens, houses and walkways. All of this makes us a great tourist destination. We are also a great business stop-over as we are located 5 minutes from the Salisbury train station, 40 minutes from Bournemouth or Southampton airport/docks and 50 minutes from Portsmouth harbour.

Sundays and throughout the week, we offer a quiet, relaxed environment. At the weekend, the very busy bar on the ground floor is open until 2am and offers DJ entertainment and is part of the Salisbury nightclub circuit. You will hear bar or street noise in some of the hotels rooms at weekends. Please make sure you book for the right experience, weekdays quiet and relaxed, weekends lively, busy and possibly noisy until 2.30am.

The hotels bedrooms do not have telephones or air conditioning, they offer a contemporary style of decoration and have lots of extras you would not expect from accommodation with a hotels rating of 2 star, -free wifi, 22-inch flat-screen TVs with Freeview, plentiful tea, coffee and hot chocolate supplies. All bedrooms are accessible via stairs or an original wood-panelled passenger lift. All rooms have ironing boards, hairdryers, ceiling fans, a small safe and a high standard of towelling and linen. There are heated towel rails in all bathrooms. Parking is just two minutes away at pay and display car parks. (Loading bay at the hotels entrance for check in/out.) We have a selection of adjoining rooms to suit families or groups, along with a selection of double rooms with king sized beds or single rooms. Our bedrooms are all very comfortable to relax in, after a stroll around the historic City of Salisbury or after dining in our restaurant.

You can enjoy breakfast from 7.30am until 10am Monday to Saturday and from 8am until 10am on Sunday. Food is available all day until late, with a range of traditional English fare including locally sourced steaks, burgers, homemade pies and great fish and chips.

Very disappointed. It's not really a hotel at all, but a bar/club that offers additional bed and breakfast. That would be okay but not at the prices they charge (a complete rip-off). I suspect others giving better reviews haven't had much experience of staying in hotels in England. For example, the 'reception' was just a booth. It was unmanned when I arrived, so I had to find a member of the bar staff to book me in; the same when I wanted to check-out: no one around to see you off/take the keys etc. Room very basic, small and with cheap and worn furniture. Breakfast service slow, bowls still wet from washing, plates mixed with saucers, some stained with coffee. Bread was supermarket bread, the cooked breakfast was slow in arriving and more or less cold (it wouldn't be so bad if they were busy but they weren't). Very similar on the first night I tried eating in. Again, there were only two other customers eating (so not at all busy), yet the order took ages and was warm rather than hot. Taste-wise, oily and disappointing. The YMCA would give the place a very good run for its money...

The thing you remember after everything else is forgotten is friendly service and a willingness to make your trip pleasant. This hotel has that friendliness in spades. While not polished like an international chain, its friendly service, its location and its generous breakfasts are memorable. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean with a good bathroom and plenty of hot water. Although it can be a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, there are ear plugs supplied! We'd happily stay here again.

Whilst once The Catederal had an almost "local" feel, corporatism has overtaken this pub/restaurant. If you want a soul-less "English Pub" then this may be the place for you, it is not nearly as cheap as you would expect from a chain pub, and whilst you may be willing to spend a little more for atmosphere or history, the only of each that this place has, is manufactured. To their credit, most of the bar staff try to be as accommodating as possible, but not all. Some have such a high opinion of themselves and cone across as so "snotty", ("Snooty" for American visitors) that they make customer's feel unwelcome. Even though this is the closest pub to where I live, I will not be returning.

Nice food, drink and atmosphere during the day with decent seating and live sports. Lively in the evenings.

Great sports bar, cheap drinks day and night. Good place to watch sports. Food is good, as expected pub food.
