We needed an early evening pub meal on the way to Bristol airport and this was a great choice. If we lived nearer we'd definitely go again. The interior decor is very traditional old style country pub but without being tacky or twee. It felt very cosy. We just had a main course each but everyone was happy with the quality and quantity of food. Generous crispy fish and chips and plenty of crushed peas. Ham egg and chips was also apparently a good choice, and my own meal of chicken breast with mushrooms and bacon was delicious, also served with a good helping of veg. Service was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. Loos were clean. It was a good traditional pub menu with plenty of choice and in a very pleasant setting.
This was the most delightful find!! Almost the whole menu is gluten free - including the cider battered fish and chips and crumble! I even came back another night for a meal while in the area. Such a joy to find a lovely, cosy country pub where I could eat most of the menu.Service: 5/5
Had our works Christmas meal here. It was superb. We had a room on our own, set around a square, everyone was able to chat and enjoy the experience. The food was excellent, no confusion with any of the meals. The main course was all served together and the food was hot. Cannot recommend highly enough and will return in the new year.
Lovely pub on the edge of the Mendips. Loads of parking. Good ales. Good service and decent pub grub. We had Sunday roasts and they were all great.Service: 5/5
We went to the Carpenters Arms for food and were not disappointed at all. The food we had was incredible and the service was extremely friendly. One of the best pub meals we've hadService: 5/5
We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary on 31 Oct with lunch at this outstanding pub, which never fails to impress. The menu was imaginative & tasty, & included some 'Classics' as well. Portions were generous. Try to make room for dessert too, & finish with one of their excellent selection of coffees. We can't comment on the rooms, but would just like to highly recommend lunch, which is also good value for money. Food & drinks: Already commented above.
Lovely pub and food, but portions are massive, so if you are not a big eater, share a main.
I visited with friends for lunch. Lovely comfortable country pub, not far from A37 between Bristol and Pensford. Absolutely brilliant service the food was delicious and freshly cooked. All reasonably priced. Did not stay was just for lunch, so did not see the rooms.Service: 5/5
We stayed at the Carpenters Arms in September of 2023. We rented two rooms, one with two twins for 20 year old children and one queen size bed room for my wife and me. The rooms were clean, had high end furniture and fixtures. They felt like a four star luxury hotel. The hotel staff was easy to contact and work with. The Inn was charming- an old style pub and restaurant on the ground floor with the rooms on the first floor. The breakfast was delicious and large. The inn is in the countryside, which is what we wanted. We took a walk in the surrounding area enjoying the tranquil scenery. We highly recommend the inn for a couple or a family and would happily go back.
A really cosy pub with great food, and clearly very popular for socialising and drinking on a friday night. Had a really nice time and would definitely go back again. Big plus is the open fire and sofas!Service: 5/5
