Beautiful museum, we spent 5 hours looking around. If you have a portable charger for your phone, you might need it... we took lots of pics! We ate before we arrived, but they have a cafeteria and a cafe...seats are at a premium though. Bathroom was crowded close to closing, so I'd recommend stopping before 4:30 pm.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
I visited the British Museum, and it was truly an impressive experience. The museum's size and extensive collection were captivating. The Ancient Egypt and Greece sections were particularly remarkable. Seeing the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles up close was thrilling, allowing me to examine such significant pieces of history. The fact that the museum is free to enter means that people of all ages and from all over the world visit, which was wonderful to see. However, the debates about whether some artifacts should be returned to their countries of origin were thought-provoking. Overall, the British Museum is a must-see in London.
Had a great time. There is a lot to see, so multiple visits are advised. It is best to book your tickets in advance to ensure speedy entry, although the tickets are free. A wide range of artefacts from all over the world and many time periods. Something to enthuse everyone. Some exhibits feature human remains, so this may upset some.
Very very very crowded. But it also is a Saturday. Overall nice museum. Very informative. You can download the plan on your phone but I found it a bit hard to navigate. The plan is several times in the museum tho, so it's not very penalising. Some of those displays felt a bit "thrown around". Would be nice if there were more pics about how they used to look like, and the place they were at. Or maybe just returned to where they come from, as there are now museums able to keep them there. But I can understand why the museum wants to keep them.
Fantastic Museum. Loved the Ancient Greek & Egyptian exhibits especially. Definitely worth a visit. Getting in was a breeze too since we did not have a bag that they needed to scan. We bypassed the long queue.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
One of the best museums I’ve ever been to. The collections are all outstanding, and they have so many jewels that have marked human history. It’s a museum not to miss, but it is huge. Plan ahead because there’s so much to see, you need to prioritize what you like. It was VERY crowded on a Sunday.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
My favourite part of our trip to London so far! Entry is free, but you do have to wait in line to get in. The lineup moved pretty fast though. Once inside, there is so much to see that you might not get through it all! We certainly didn't! My favourite areas were ancient Greece, ancient Egypt, and the Japanese galleries. There were a lot of people in the museum, and this made for a long lineup at the bathrooms. I noticed the men's bathroom line was much shorter then the women's, though. The café and souvenir shop were nice, and we picked up a few things for people back home. The cost of the food, drink, and souvenirs made up for the free ticket to get in. A definite MUST SEE when visiting London!! Highly recommended!
What a vast exhibition with a lot to explore. An hour really won't be enough even to explore the general displays. Books section in the shop must be considered by book lovers because I compared some to other book stores, turned out cheaper in the museum shop. Will definitely revisit if I have chance in the future.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
A huge collection of important parts of history and art. It gets very warm. The tour groups all seem to start at the Rosetta stone and go back so skipping this if you are there early and coming back to it may help. Some of the galleries do not allow tour groups and these were a nice quieter break. Some of the very important pieces are quite small so knowing the highlights of each room is helpful. The standby line when we were there was very long, but moved quickly.
Was fortunate to have carved out time to attend the museum's special exhibit, "Michelangelo: the Final Decades," featuring his last works in Rome. It is amazing to see his personal letters and artistic sketches that were realized in paintings, sculpture, and architecture. Pro tip: The lines for general museum entry are extremely long and wrapped around the block at both entries. Since I purchased a timed ticket to this exhibit, I was allowed to skip the very long line and security check. I was directed by a very nice staff person to go straight to the guard for a quick bag check and entry. Very friendly museum staff were eager to direct me to the Great Court and the exhibit. I was able to spend two very focused hours on this excellent exhibit. Highly recommend!
