Story

The Boundary, based in Broadmeadows, Alfreton, is a traditional pub with separate hotel accommodation of 13 high quality rooms. The bar serves a range of quality beers and wine and an extensive pub menu offering hot food all day. We also offer a full schedule of entertainment in our large function room, from speed dating to live music! Located conveniently within five minutes of Junction 28 of the M1 and 13 miles from Derby City Centre, the Boundary is the perfect stop-off point for the business traveller looking for a comfortable hotel room with the convenience of a pub next door. We are situated in the middle of the beautiful Peak District and offer a convenient base for our leisure customers, with a range of accommodation including family rooms. Our pub function room can cater for events from conferences and meetings, to weddings, in our Meridian Suite with a capacity of up to 130 people. Hotel accommodation prices include our fantastic free breakfast.

Lovely pub and fantastic staff, but the hotel is lacking. Really friendly staff, great selection of drinks and cocktails in an attractive pub with exceptional outside area. The hotel is not so great. Accommodation is situated in another building, up some concrete steps. Once inside, there is no lift to get to the upper rooms, so we struggled getting our luggage up some flights of stairs. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with a large TV. Beds are soft and comfortable, and the pillows are high quality. The hotel staff were really friendly and attentive, making us feel very welcome. Tea and coffee facilities are provided, however you only get two teabags, two coffees etc per room which isn't enough if there's more than one person. Breakfast is served at the pub next door for an extra charge, but sadly is only available to order until 9.15am. There is a lot of noise at night, which is understandable due to the proximity to a beer garden. However, there is no air conditioning or fans provided in the room, so you have to have the windows open to try and cool the area down. It makes it really difficult to sleep. If possible I recommend you bring your own fan so you can close the windows and block the noise.
Great environment, wonderful staff and great food. The service was absolutely stellar. Th variety of the menu was a great balance of traditional and seasonal making it had to choose. Turns out you can’t go web with any choir you make.
It is a beautiful family pub. Fabulous interior and lovely, kind and helpful staff. The food is delicious and filling. There is a vast selection of ales and different drinks available. There is a play area inside with play, grab and win machines £1 =4 goes. There is an outdoor playground for the children. The outdoor sitting area is huge . The pub and hotel is surrounded by beautiful green woods. You can play pool and darts .
Very comfortable, even better than some well known 4 star establishments. Better beds, better towels, larger rooms, just brill overall. Water was lovely and hot, only improvement I could think of is stronger pressure. Looking forward to staying again
Absolute shocking place. Went and spent £25 for two Sunday dinners and it was dry and disgusting. Only difference between a normal and a large was a different size plate.. no extra food. Plate size was like a kids size. Staff was extremely rude. Refused the refund even though one of the meals was untouched due to there being things on it that my partner didn’t like. Doesn’t tell you what’s on it and it comes with horrible.. HORRIBLE microwave like vegetables. Absolutely disgusted in this place
Lovely pub. Staff make everyone feel welcome. Manager jade is lovely, new staff member meagan is very friendly and Mikey makes everyone welcome for bingo and quiz nights. Ate a few times here and food has been excellent each time. Enjoyed our experience at the boundary and will return very soon.
We came to a party booked in your function room and stayed the night. Everybody was extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast in the morning was well presented and plenty of options. The only small negative on the night was the beer pump in the function room was not working so everytime my husband wanted a drink had to go round Into the bar/ restaurant. Minor inconvenience
Had a one night stay and our room was perfectly clean, comfortable and well equipped. We also ate in the pub, food is delicious and all the staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend and we’d stay here again. Thank you.
Awful hotel and restaurant. The pub and rooms look really nice but if you have the misfortune to visit when there is a function on half the food menu will be unavailable, the food will take over an hour to arrive and the music will be so loud you wont be able to sleep. Shame as it's a nice building and well decorated but its badly managed.
Hotel room was clean and comfortable. On arrival we were told there was a function on and there maybe some noise. That noise went on until midnight, couldn't open the windows due to the volume of the music and screaming. Breakfast was lacking i had requested gluten free options. We had to order from the usual menu and take off anything containing gluten, no bread or cereal. I also found the lady who served us to be rude. She said my son was odd and that his breakfast looked weird because be only wanted a sausage. I felt the comments were unnecessary.
