The hotel itself is ready for a renovation. However the rooms were clean and comfortable. Lovely helpful staff. They are happy for you to order takeaways to your room, but we went out for food. Convenient location for peak district
I'll start with the positives: the team on reception were really friendly and helpful. The room was huge, with a large double bed. Tea and coffee available in the room.nnThere's no on-site cafe / restaurant - breakfast is a cardboard box containing various packaged foods. It's not terrible, but it would be nice to have some fruit as an option as well. The only places to get food within walking distance are Burger King, Subway and a petrol station shop. If you want to eat anything fresh, you'll need to bring it with you.nnWiFi is not included in the price of the room and costs £3 for 24 hours.nnI know most people will arrive by car, but if you're considering coming by public transport - don't even think about it. You have to cross two slip roads to get to the hotel from Alfreton - it's incredibly dangerous. The better alternative is a bus from Swanwick, which is a 20 minute walk away along a busy road but thankfully doesn't involve risking your life....
Perfect location, pub just down the road. Beautiful reservoir in walking distance.nTravel lodge was very clean, quiet, spacious. Friendly staff.nOn site burger king which does a breakfast deal, also open until late.nThere are plenty of takeaways and shops not far away from the travel lodge.nPetrol station and Costa coffee on site.nWe got a great deal, 5 stars.
The room was what you'd expect for a basic Travelodge room - clean bed linen, tea and coffee provided as expected, there were few cobwebs and it had a general sort of tired looking feel to it, but we didn't mind as we were only stopping for one night. Bathroom was clean with sufficient hand wash etc. The staff are friendly and helpful. The car park is a bit run down but we'd seen from previous reviews that this is a common complaint. There's a Subway and Burger King onsite and quite a few restaurants and pubs within easy driving distance. We especially liked The Bluebell pub about 2.7 miles away.nIt's not a bad deal deal if you're only stopping for a couple of nights, it's a good location for The Heights of Abraham and even Sherwood forest, we'd stop again if we were in the area but only for a couple of nights at the maximum.
So I stay at a lot of hotels for work and many are Travelodge or Premier ….travelodge imo kick premier bum all day even if this place is very outdated it’s actually very clean in comparison to premier and other travelodge this one is cared for and looked after maybe the staff at reception so so welcoming and helpful and tons of parking big enough for coaches or buses minibuses etc there is a Burger King actually connected and a Bp petrol station with a lone is shop loads of choice although expensive and a subway too. Location is great for main roads and commuting but I’m just shocked that room was decent clean and warm borderline cost bath included and nice showernNot much mobile signal and Wi-Fi is expensive and slownAlso some rough types hanging around outside shouting abuse at people coming in and out and police dogs apparently stay in this hotel and patrol it
