Disappointed that a hot dog in a roll was just a little 4" tinned or jar tidler in a finger roll. Belies the sign that draws you in advertising good locally sourced food, probably from Asda along the way. No sign of the cask ales either!!

We stopped for a short spell of measured rehydration mid afternoon on a gentle bike ride along the keelmans way path. It was quite pleasant at that time but waited quite a long time at the bar to be served as a young chap of dubious character ( I make no apologies for making a snap judgment as it's a hobby of mine) appeared from the rear of the pub and collared one of the young barmaids to serve him a couple of drinks, ignoring the three or four of us queuing. I didn't object as my life insurance is void in these circumstances and it occurred to me that his rich heritage and interesting DNA may have indeed precluded him from such tiresome trials as waiting his turn. Joking aside it's a place to come to watch the footy and for a swift half as we did but I wouldn't seek it out for polite company or attentive bar staff. A bit harsh possibly but a decent glass of beer and a good position spoilt by a "not bothered" feeling about the place.

Riverside pub on the banks of the Tyne at Newburn. Next door to a country park, on the Hadrian's Wall route and neighbouring rowing club so busy at the weekend with walkers, cyclists, rowers and locals watching sport on the big screen tellys. A bit scruffy but welcoming.

Friendly staff good atmosphere did not enjoy my mixed grill although the other 3 people who accompanied me couldn't speak more highly of their steak and Sunday lunches

Nice small pub, nice pint. Lots of small children about, owner poking the fire, then walking across room to the other fire, was slightly concerned. He should of put the poker inside the metal bucket he was holding for safety reasons.
