We visited as a party of 9, which included 3 children, 2 of which have special needs. The tone for how fantastic our visit would be was set when 2 of the party arrived first and requested the kids get to order first so their food could come out first, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Ashleigh or perhaps Ashley, we didn't check! was incredible - she made sure the kids' food came out asap, and they were eating within minutes of our arrival. We're very grateful to her for her fantastic service. The adults' food also didn't take too long, and whilst my own plate was a substantial portion I opted to 'go large' on the roast!, it was delicious so I did actually finish it all. The veg wasn't overcooked, which is often an issue with Sunday roasts. The meats you get all 3 if you go large were nicely cooked, and the Yorkshire puddings were clearly homemade from their differing shapes - none of that picture perfect out of a packet lark. The rest of the group had only compliments for their own food, and the sticky toffee pudding is particularly recommended as a dessert. The overall atmosphere was pleasant, warm, and comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. If we're in the area again, we'd certainly know where to stop for food. Kid-friendliness: Waiting staff went *beyond* above and beyond to be accommodating to the three children in our party Parking: Lots of parking, including disabled parking near the front door
Easy to get to. On the main road Hilderstone Road not far from Moddershall Oaks, see my reviews. Easy parking, but doesn't seem a huge car park. Lovely building and restaurant. Clean, neat and tidy. Staff very friendly. Malaysia chicken skewers was nice. Sauce was more like a standard curry sauce. Chips were tasty. Can have half chips and half rice.. great idea!! Gammon and chips. Nice, just standard as expected. Nice restaurant would recommend. Standard sort of pub food and reasonable prices. Kid-friendliness: Yes kids welcome.
Tremendous Monday lunch, with Mrs B. Fairly quiet yes, staff all seemed happy and very polite, explaining the options on the menu today. The value for money was excellent as we both had a starter and a main. The quality and speed of service was spot on! Obviously freshly cooked, no overcooked veg, beautiful beef with almost no fat, roasted potatoes were piping hot and quite a charismatic eatery. The only downside was the 90 mile journey home, would definitely return if back in the area. If you live nearby and haven’t tried it, you’re missing out, such a friendly bunch of staff and quality food. Thank you all Even included clean toilets pics
Great food as always 5star thank you to the chiefs!! Shame your passion isn’t reciprocated front of house. Rushing us through every aspect of dining despite the restaurant not actually been that busy even standing at the next table waiting to clean ours the very moment we stood up to leave.
very nice venue that has so much more than can ve seen from the road, excellent menu although limited, the food was excellent and i have no complaints whatsoever. The staff I must say have been the friendliest and most attentive I have met I a long long time so the management need to be congratulate them and be congratulated themselves. large car park but beware the venue appears very quickly on a fast road to take care on approach. wohld highly recommend the hammock and mustard starter.
Starters and main for £20. We went on a Thursday which is when they do a steak night 2 rump steaks and a bottle of wine £30. I had cajun chicken and swapped the triple cooked chips for a jacket pot. Really tasty. Kid-friendliness: High chairs available Parking: Car park was full but could park on the camping field if needed. Wheelchair accessibility: Flat entrance and throughout.
Not bad but can be better. I heard a lot of great reviews for here and some of them I can understand why they were given. I had the steak and ale pie and it was OK. The staff were pleasant enough but we had one dinner on the table behind us who must have thought it was a shouting competition as he only had one tone very loud. The inside is OK and probably needs a little make over. But over all its not bad. Is it worth the money-probably in the current climate.
5 stars for the quality of the food! Really nice food! The only problem we found was the service and the wait for food. There were extremely large waits between courses but other people ordering after us got theirs before us. They need a better meet and greet function at the door as we were standing around waiting for service. Service was average, however an older gentleman who looks like a manager would benefit from some management courses and how to manage staff correctly. The only problem was the wait for food which was extremely long. Food was amazing! I don’t think we will be heading back here any time soon.
This is a very favourite place of ours, the food is always good. Its a beautiful restaurant with lovely garden and colourful hanging baskets. The atmosphere inside is lovely perfect for any special occasion. The staff are polite and friendly. Our last visit was quite a wait for our meal to arrive, but it was well worth it. They have special nights, Tuesdays is pie night, several different types to choose from, including a vegetarian option, look out for their other special nights. Menu is extensive. More than worth a visit. We had another visit this week, everything was perfect as before. However we went for pie night and the pies had changed. The steak pie had bacon in which we didnt want, so didnt have it this time. Also the chicken was chicken and leek before and now it is chicken and mushroom made with cream. I loved the chicken and leek but with cream it is too rich and didn't like the mushrooms they are slimy, prefer chestnut mushrooms. I think they have tried to upgrade it a bit but it wasnt necessary. We will come again but probably not for pie night, which is a shame. They have a new Manager Phil, who does a brilliant job, professional and efficient we had seem him working before elsewhere, the Black Lake Inn is very lucky to have him. Parking: The restaurant was very busy and it was difficult to park, if you cant get in there is nowhere else, parking on main road isnt possible. There is a field belonging to them for motorhomes and caravans which is huge, so maybe tge park8ng coukd be extended a little.
First time visit and I had lasagne, chips which came with garlic bread. Tasty but the portions are huge! Could reduce size as not one of us finished our meals and hate waste. Staff were super friendly but not overly and the prices were good. Around £12-14 for main meal. Lovely atmosphere and lots of parking availableFood: 5/5
