This is my favourite pub/restaurant in the north east. Amazing food. Great local beer and ciders. Beautiful range fireplace in every room. Always super helpful staff. Right next to the weardale valley railway.

We randomly stumbled on this pub while out driving after a day trip out in the Pennines and decided to stop and give it a go. What an absolute find! Full of character and charm with beautiful log burning fires and traditional decor. The food was outstanding, way above what you would expect from a pub! Presentation and amazing flavours, cooked to perfection. The service was delivered with a smile! We don't live in the area but we're already planning our next visit even though it's a 45 minute drive from home! Worth it!

Excellent Sunday lunch,good old fashioned lunch with proper gravy. Also small selection of local beers.

Lovely pub, dog and child friendly, very friendly staff, nice range of real ales, Allendale and Consett breweries- definitely worth a visit
