I bought a Scott electric bike from these guys last year. One of the best purchases I've ever made in my life. I can go anywhere on it and can choose how much effort I put into the ride or how fast I want to go. If I want to go far and easy, I just take the charger with me to plug in during a pub lunch - takes max 2 hours from nearly flat to fully charged. I now commute to work on it daily, through Windsor Great Park, missing all the traffic and knowing that if I feel a bit lacking in energy or under the weather, the bike will work harder for me simply by my selecting a higher power setting. A very "self caring" purchase! I can also ride the most ridiculously steep hills where other ordinary bikes just won't go, freeing me to experience some of the country's loveliest scenery without the slog, and all while carrying my gear in panniers. Amazing. Worth ever penny I spent. I know I get called a cheat, but in fact it's a different kettle of fish altogether. If you've got cranky joints, are unfit or suffer heart or lung problems, this is a FABULOUS way to get out in the fresh air on a bike and get as fit as you can be without all the suffering (but check with your doc first!). Plus the customer care and after sales has left me believing that I'll get sorted out if I hit a problem with the bike. Thanks guys! Excellent experience all round.

TLDR: No Longer Worth The Premium? The Bike Company Windsor - I have repeatedly recommended this place to friends. I usually says 'Its expensive, but not extortionate because its worth the excellent service'. Whilst the staff are friendly and helpful, the quality of servicing was dismal for my last visit. - Allowed to ride away on a loose back wheel, causing me to fall off 5meters down the road. - Paid for truing + spoke replacement. I expect it to be removed, inspected, and trued on a proper stand. I'm later informed the mechanic just put a new spoke in, tensioned the one spoke up, and that was it. If i wanted this, I'd do it myself. It still wobbled. - The wheel broke another spoke 2days later. If it was properly rebuilt, this would not have happened. Now back at square one. Just disappointing. At this point, I'm not sure if i should just take it Halfords. The sales staff are excellent, but that's pointless without a good mechanic.

After initially being disappointed with the service we received from one of the sales team, I'm happy to say that the situation was recovered by one of the managers. He took the time to advise us on choosing a bike that suited and had the bike set up and ready to go very quickly. He persuaded us that they really DO care about their customers and I would be happy to shop here again.

I have to say the service received at the bike company today was awful. I booked my bike in to have two tyres changed (my supply) and pedals changed (again my supply). I was told by a helpful chap over the phone the day before that the tyre changes would be £9 each (expensive?) but they'd fit my pedals for free as it would only take 2 minutes. Anyway, dropped the bike in at 11am and told it would take an hour and a half. Came back at 2pm only to be told that they'd not even started the job. 30 more minutes waiting in Costa before an eventual return. "That'll be £23 please"! "Really, I was quoted £18". "That was an error so tough"! A shame, as we'd decided to purchase a £500 Pashley bike from them only hours before, in spite of a somewhat bizarre sales pitch involving a PhD level discussion on the virtues of blue coloured tyres and Kevlar. We partner was already sold but didn't understand a word of what the shop's lunatic owner was spouting on about. He seemed far more interested in demonstrating his knowledge of the bike tyre supply chain than listening to his potential customer. A bizarre experience...
