Stayed at The Berney so many times now if feels like our second home. Staff are fantastic and so welcoming and food is great. Great you can take dog's too, be back soon for sure. Love Claire, Martin, Seb and Hamish x
I spent 3 nights in the Berney Arms hotel, I had to travel to the area for work. The reception was very friendly and helpful when I arrived. I got room 3 for the first 2 nights, which is located inside the main building, the room with a full bathroom is very spacious and comfortable, looked like that is the master suite. I was moved to another room for the last night, which is located to the side of the main building, that wasn't as good as room 3, the bed was a bit harder, the room was a bit colder, when I couldn't sleep anymore at 3 in the morning, as I felt a bit of a head cold coming on, I wanted to take a hot bath to see if it would help me to feel a bit better, then found out the water out of the hot water tap wasn't even luke warm, running the bathtub about half full, the water nearly felt cold on my hand, so I abandoned the idea of a hot bath. I had dinner there every evening, the food was excellent every time, my compliments to the chef! My overall experience was good, I would stay there again. PS...I was probably spoilt a bit the first 2 nights in the big room, then the last night in the smaller room was a bit of a let down.
Very nice meal if a little slow, but we were not in a rush
A great, out-of-the-way spot for some food or a stay. Staff are always so helpful and happy to help with any issues or queries. Lovely rooms, and great locally sourced food. The only one minor drawback is a poor wifi coverage to some of the rooms, and an overall lack of mobile phone signal - not unexpected however
We found this pub by accident but can't rate it highly enough. Great staff who were very welcoming and friendly. Great food, freshly cooked and tasty. Great day friendly and great inside - very happy to let our pooch in while we ate in the little restaurant area.
The food at the berney arms is second to none. With fast and friendly staff at hand could not falt it.
A nice looking pub, good interior finish. Had lunch today, as I had not visited since they have been under new management. I went for the venison sausages, the horseradish mash, onions, kale and gravy were good, the venison sausages however did not taste like any venison I had, had before. Followed up by a plum tart, it looked like and from the two bites I had, tasted like it had been cooked at somepoint in time, then reheated again, before finally being microwaved for me today. Oh and if you like a dash of lime in your lager, then that is £1.00 a dash... Not sure where you get the lime cordial from, but for reference Waitrose's Mexican Lime Juice Cordial is £0.85 per litre bottle.
A lovely afternoon tea, clotted cream with the scone would have made it perfect.
Fantastic food, very friendly staff and a beautiful pub with a very pretty outside area! We had our wedding lunch at The Berney Arms and they went above and beyond what we expected in terms of decorations on the table and around the bar. Thank you to the whole team, we had a fantastic day!
Small village pub with a real homey feel. We didn't partake of an evening meal as we arrived late but the breakfast was amazing. The staff were welcoming and helpful. A really wonderful stopover.
