Went for Sunday dinner - it was absolutely beautiful. Had main and dessert, and couldn't fault anything. Quality was best I've had in many years, good portions, good service and a good setting. Would recommend this place to anyone - we had a range of ages from 3-89 & all were happy. Given the fact kids go, if you don't have kids and don't like the noise they make then you might want to ask for a quiet corner - if they can help, I'm sure they would. This is the only downside I could find, which wasn't for me as we brought the 3 year old. Wasn't drinking, so can't comment on the bar choice, or cost.
Lovely environment, people are very friendly and helpful. We only gave 3 stars because both meals we had weren’t great, lamb shank was slightly burnt, excessive amount of peppercorns and vegetarian lasagne tastes like tinned tomatoes, pasta and veg but the cheese on top was great but what cheese isn’t think we just chose bad options, as place was full and others seemed happy.
Came for a christmas meal last night with some friends. Really enjoyed the place and there was a good selection of beers and gins. The food was good with the majority of us ordering the traditional Parmo but it was really salty. Like it had been fried on a salt base or something alike. For some of the party the salt was a too much. Shame really as the rest of the food was spot on!
I've just had a meal at this place. My first impression was that of a warm welcome and good beer. We had booked a table as I had been advised that the Bay Horse served good food. On this occasion, there was a large crowd celebrating 'The Last Night of the Proms' but to my knowledge, they had all finished their meals by the time we were seated and were in the process of vacating their tables. This is where the experience went down hill. We waited quite a while for our orders to be taken and although the food was reasonably good, it was not great, when it finally arrived. The staff had to be called across the room, and on one occasion we had to leave our table to actually get a member of staff to order more drinks. On the whole, it was not a great experience and only made worse by poor service and inexperienced staff.
Went to the Bay Horse for my leaving do as I have relocated to the USA. I had a great evening with my friends the food was lovely as ever, never been disappointed as me and my family have eaten there for many years. The Bay Horse will always have special memories including the food which would go really well over here.
Great quality food served until 9pm, from an ever changing chalk board menu. A range of ales including some local breweries too. Lovely beer garden out back.
Nice beer, lovely beer garden, just didn't serve food tonight. Not that we wanted a meal but would have been nice to be option for others.
First visit, staff were amazingly friendly, and helpful, garlic mushrooms on ciabatta, was out of this world, and the steak pie was was packed, very tender, and gorgeous. Will be back very soon
Gorgeous food, consistently excellent, and, a very good service, friendly atmosphere, always made to feel welcome.
A traditional English Country Pub in a lovely village with a wide tree-lined Village Green. ...... and also had a great location for its Beer Garden high above the River Leven valley.
