A real ale pub in the harbour town of Porthmadog, and home of Purple Moose Brewery beers.

Story

The Australia, Porthmadog, is the brewery tap for the town's very own Purple Moose Brewery. We showcase the brewery's excellent range of cask, keg and bottled beers, as well as offering delicious home-cooked food.

We serve freshly prepared meals throughout the year, Wednesday to Sunday; 12:00pm-2:30pm and 5:30pm-8:30pm.

Dog friendly, bear in mind it’s a small and busy pub. Brought the family along for food with the sneaky chance of a few pints as I love a good tap room. Tap room didn't disappoint with a great selection of Purple Moose beers and several other options. What did surprise us was the quality, flavour and presentation of the food. Really blown away by how good it all was. Will definitely return and I suggest you do too. Dog friendly which also helps.
Fantastic! The service was excellent and the staff were really helpful. What we came for was the food and the renowned Purple Moose beer. Both were outstanding and really made our evening. Booking a table is definitely recommended as The Australia is very deservedly a popular place in Porthmadog. We'll definitely be back.
This is a great pub and somewhere you have to spend time with a pint or two. The real ales are wonderful, food great and staff friendly and helpful. We always stop for a beer when in town, no matter your taste you will find something to love.
Always handy to know a bar that opens at 11:00am! The Blodwen Golden Pale was on fine form and only £3.90 for the scoop. Plenty of charging posts around but phone signal O2 is virtually nil unless you sign up to the app
