The Aperfield Inn

About

The Aperfield Inn is a cozy pub and restaurant situated in Biggin Hill,Westerham that is oozing rustic character and charm. See our website for info!

Story

The Aperfield Inn was formerly known as The Fox And Hounds after The ''Old Surrey Foxhounds'' who used to meet at the pub before their hunt. It now takes its name from an ancient spelling of "apple tree field" and is built on land that once formed part of the Manor of Aperfield. This was one of the manors that William the Conqueror presented to his half-brother following the Norman invasion in 1066, so it's fair to say the area is rich in history!
A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Lovely pub with a nice relaxed atmosphere, staff where friendly. My mushroom starter was delicious, my husbands flatbread was very nice too. We both had the burger, which was very meaty and very tasty, the onion rings where coated in a very light crispy batter the melted in your mouth, and the triple cooked chips where fantastic too, I simply couldn't eat it all, but I was saving myself for pudding. My husband had the chocolate brownie and ice-cream, he said it was very nice, I had been especially looking forward to my vanilla flavoured creme brulee, which unfortunately was somewhat disappointing, I've never had one that was less than a cm deep, and the vanilla centre tasted more like a cheep custard and simply wasn't very flavoursome at all, but the sheer size of it was the most disappointing and not value for money. I mentioned the size of the portion to the waiter and that it was disappointing, he said it was the standard size in all of the Vintage Inns restaurants. So personally I'd recommend that you pick something else from the dessert menu, unless you want something small. Overall the price was very reasonable :)

Lovley place for drink and even a meal. Food is perfect here at a moderate price. A great selection of drink. Well kept outdoor area and a truly wonderful building.

A very welcoming gastro pub in Biggin Hill. Wide selection of starters, mains and puddings. I chose the Moroccan Lamb off the specials menue. The chef had cooked the meat to perfection; just a little pink. It was served with a fragrent mix of lentils and beans, very much like a tagine. Extremely friendly staff all of whom could not do more to make our lunch the enjoyable experience it was. If you are the vicinity of Biggin Hill and in need of sustenance head straight for this pub. You won't be disappointed.
