The hotel is beautiful and the staff are fantastic. The breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately our rooms had two huge generators attached to the outside wall and they started up very loudly every hour, so no sleep for a 4 hour drive the next day. Enjoy the gorgeous hotel, but top tip..just don't stay in rooms 16 and 17!
We visited the Alverton hotel for a Sunday roast after finding the Google reviews were good.nWe were very disappointed with the roast. The waitresses did not ask us how the food was, so we called someone over to let them know that the beef was very tough & inedible.nThe waitress went away to talk to the chef & afterwards replaced the beef…it was even worse.nWhen they took the second lot of beef away, we hadn’t eaten it, the waitress came back from the kitchen & asked if we wanted to try the chicken. We declined as we were all finished.nTwo of us then ordered dessert, sticky toffee pudding, and unfortunately this was also very disappointing.nThe waitress brought the bill and advised they’d taken 10% off which we said was a bit insulting, she then increased this slightly.nVery expensive roast dinner for what we actually ate! Would not return.
I go to Truro for an annual social event and this Hotel is always my first choice.nRooms and service excellent over all my stays. The hotel is in a great location with great landscaping and is definitely a treat to stay there.nnMy only thing I would mention is due to the character of the building, there are many stairs, so do make arrangements with the hotel if you have walking difficulties.
We recently had an amazing week long holiday in Cornwall and loved everything - except the food at the Alverton.nnDinner on the first night included undercooked chips and rubbery kale. Breakfast would have been fine for a Travelodge and we pined for breakfast at Driftwood.nnThe location is amazing with easy access to the whole of Cornwall. Our room in the Courtyard was spacious and very comfortable with a great bathroom. The staff were a pleasure- just need new chefs.
The Alverton HotelnnWonderful room and location—fantastic value for money. Service was good, and the evening food was absolutely amazing. Great parking too. My only moan? Breakfast didn’t quite hit the mark.
