Nightmare to park at packed with cars on the weekend people use it as the town car park when there’s a proper car park round the corner. Cash machine is always out of money and the staff on the self services are always rude. Every time I’ve gone in they huff and have a rude tone when you ask for help.
A good handy local store. The staff are both friendly and ready to help if you have an issue or can't find a item. There aren't any clothes here though and the electronics / entertainment is limited so you need to go to a larger store further out Haydock/Warrington/St. Helens if this is what you're looking for.
I am writing this review to thank Cath & Paula at this Tesco branch, for their help and persistence, when I was in desperate need of a white shirt ! This may seem of little importance, but I had driven 250 miles to attend a wedding in Winwick on 4th June, and was happy that all my clothes for the wedding, reception and evening dance were present and correct. Fortunately I checked my wedding suit the night before at the hotel, to ensure it had travelled well, only to find my crisp white shirt hadn’t travelled at all ! Panic ! Not knowing the area, I googled nearest superstore, which was Asda, arrived there on the wedding day at 7-30am to find their large clothing section had not one single mens white shirt ! Next stop Tesco Earlstown, to find they had no clothing section, but spotted Paula and Cath in one of the aisles. I rushed up, explained my dilemma, and they kindly scoured the stockroom in the off chance there was one lurking within. Not only did they find one, it was my exact collar size, and they gave it for free ! Thank you so much, Cath and Paula and Tesco, my dilemma was a talking point at the reception, and I have kept my promise to give this very positive review. “Shirtless John”
Clean and has most things. Staff lovely.
I used to shop here quite a lot until I was verbally abused by a member of staff, repeatedly, during a visit at the beginning of lockdown. I have never set foot in a Tesco since and never will. Absolutely appalling behaviour, and completely unprovoked. This staff member has no business being in a customer service role. I left in tears.
Boss place to work, the staff and to customers you all made my experience really good thank you. Couldn't ask more from my old manager Paula thank you for my opportunity.
I have started using this store occasionally after several years of avoiding it, the reasons of which are irrelevant for this review. During the last few weeks, I have found the staff friendly, the stock acceptable and the store pleasant, and clean enough to to be in. Today, at 3pm I went with a colleague to get a sandwich for lunch, after a long and busy morning of medical duties and caring for the local community. After a few moments of browsing the limited selection of sandwiches, we were effectively thrown out of the store by an over zealous security guard, who, after making himself vaguely intelligible, insisted that we could not shop together. This same guard waved us into the shop, whilst chatting to a mask-less friend in the foyer, not adhering to social distancing, and causing an unnecessary obstruction to anyone entering the store. As a result, the actions of your guard caused earlestown to have unnecessary excess footfall across the town, as we had to visit two further shops to satisfy our unfortunate need for food. For the avoidance of doubt, your entry policy should be clearer: if law, you should have a sign outside advising only one adult entry at a time, or possibly the traffic light should only permit entry to those allowed in. Ideally, the security guard, if given the authority, ought to forbid unauthorised or unnecessary people into the store, rather than accosting them five minutes later when simply choosing an essential lunch.
It's my local Tesco, small but very good
I'd like to say a word of support for the much put upon security. These guys are working in the most trying of circumstances and I know for a fact one of them is a black belt who can perform one fingered push ups so think twice before becoming confrontational.
Great shop friendly helpful staff, can always get what I go shopping for here, even with panic buying this Tesco has banned it and only allows 3 items per product so plenty to go around
