I just wanted to write this as I have had many very nice take aways from here very well priced in my opinion from memory we had a issue with delivery but opted to order directly and collect as works out much cheaper than just eat the guys are very friendly foods always ready within about 20 minutes and is our favourite Indian in Basingstoke will always have our custom and with the shop having a recent refurb will be coming for a sit down meal soon!
Oh! Such an aweful food we have today....I have started writing review instead of eating. We have ordered several items...14 to be precise including chicken biriyini, matar paneer, tandor chicken, Bombay aloo, chicken tikka masala, chicken pakora, karahi lamb, madras chicken, chicken bhoona complementary, kasmir veg, chicken masala, salad, chilli naan, keema naan, chipsfries, mango chutney,. Now let's begin with chicken biriyini neither it looked like biriyini not tasted like it. It was green and red coloured rice cooked and fried with vegetablesactually there was a big tomato with few pieces of chicken hidden inside. Karahi lamb and chicken tandor booth looked and tasted almost,ALMOST the same! The only thing to differentiate was the chicken tandor was a big chunk and lamb was small pieces. Both were colourful, to be precise too red. We are terrified to see the colour! Matar paneeris peas and cheddar cheese fried with onion and spiceslooked ok but didn't taste well. Bombay aloo is potato curry looked fine with very big pieces of potatoes. While eating, it smell bad. The smell similar to boiled potatoes kept in fridge without electricity for two days and cooked. It was my first time from a restaurant/takeaway. Chicken tikka masala, omg! I have never seen that RED chicken tikka masala. That red is of course not a natural colour. It is kind of extreme use of available food colour which should be used at a specific amount. Chicken pakora it's kind of chicken rosti! , Which is prepare with minced spiced chicken meat but here it is pieces of chicken dipped in batter and fried. Taste of India you are doing experiment with taste which is unexpected , really bad. I liked madras chicken, it must be it, mildly spicy, cooked well and tasted nice went well with rice we prepared. It was almost tasted like Gurkha curry. Loved it. The entire ONE star is for this item. Chicken bhoona, as it was complementary, no comment this time. Hopefully we are not going to order again. That means chicken bhoona remains a mystery forever! Veg kasmiri, it is a unique taste but we didn't like it. It was like a sweet curry made of fruits-banana, pineapple and others. Chicken masala full of spices almost floating in the sea of oil. Salad, no comments, they were just bits and pieces of all available vegetable in the kitchen wrapped in a plastic bag. Both naanschili and keemawere burnt and soggy. Chilli naan was ok but keemaminced meat looked like beetroot naan you can imagine how colourful the minced meat was. Chips aka fries. Well cooked but tasted stale while swallowing, that means I might have mouth ulcer right? Mango chutney, its mango paste, sweet and sour. It's was ok. Now my observation: It may be considered Indian taste by locals here but for me been there tasted the food. So it's not authentic. Not at all. Indian foods particularly the curry used to be spicy and oily but not like the food we ordered. There is extensive use of food colour. It is food colour but I believe it is beyond the recommended limit. The lamb is so red that there was no colour of meat and in case of chicken the colour has marinated bone deep. The entire family said "no more food from taste of India". Most of the items were sweet instead of spicy, unexpected. I consider it as a strategy to attract less spices loving British taste. Possibly a business strategy. I didn't like the smell of potatoes, tasted stale. May be stored quiet a long time not in deep fridge. My recommendation: Please use less food colour eventhough it is food colour, too much of it has its negative impacts. It might look good at the restaurant but oil spilling from takeaway boxes looked gross. It's not gravey but the oil. Recommendations to you guys....just check the reviews....the stars really matter, people have contributed their time and experience. It really matters. Now if you really challene yourself for an adventure.Good luck, go ahead. Cheers.
Order was completely wrong. They called us liars and said he sent what we ordered as he took the order himself, he was rud, obnoxious and swore and then put the phone down !!Food: 1/5
I placed an order for delivery, which they accepted but as they use their own drivers can’t track. They were extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate as closed shop without cancelling my order or letting me know that they couldn’t for fill it. Had medication to take that was waiting to have with the food. Won’t be ordering from them again.
Probably the best Indian takeaway I've ever had. Delivery time was incredibly quick, too - the estimated time on Just Eat said between 55 and 75 minutes, yet it was here within 30. I ordered a chicken madras and it was lovely. Great flavours and really tender chicken. Also ordered a cheese naan and it was stuffed with so much cheese, you definitely get your monies worth. I'd highly recommend ordering from Taste of India.
Sooo very oily, we had a chicken madras which came with an inch layer of oil on top and was smooth and very runny like it had been blitzed and came with nothing but chicken in there. Korma was okay and naans to, but all around disappointing.
23/05/20 Normally I love taste of India But today the guy on the other end of the phone was extremely rude! He rushed me through my order and hung up on me when I hadn't even finished talking to him, I then called back telling him I hadn't finished talking and wanted to ask a question which he continued to rush me through. I still put my order in and went to pick it up. On confronting him about rude he was on the phone, he then became defensive and aggressive telling me they were very busy, whilst aggressively walking around the restaurant, then proceeding to ask for my payment details without an acknowledgement or even an apology for his behaviour.
Shocking service. Took 2 hours to deliver a cold dinner, didn’t pick up the phone once so I ended up driving to the restaurant to find out what was going on, driver turned up while I was out - ordered at 6:30 turned up at 8:40. VERY unhappy. Will be going back to Curry Queen, much better food and service.
Been eating their fare for years now. Raj and co are doing a great job. Good, reasonably priced food. Only posted this after seeing the negative feedback. Everybody in a service industry loves the great British public.
Just had the most disappointing Indian of my life. I thought I would give taste of India a try based on their just eat reviews - and how disappointing! Everything was red, including the onions bhaji, the pasanda was an aniseed mess with inly with 1 lamb chunk and the poppadom was clearly microwaved crud!
