Story


Talybont Stores, Canalside Cafe and Post Office in the centre of the village of Talybont-on-Usk, just opposite the picturesque Monmouth and Brecon Canal, in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.


We stock a wide range from newspapers, lottery, top-ups, bread and milk - to snacks, alcohol, confectionery, coal, logs, kindling, BBQ's, welsh gifts and local produce.


Freshly made lunches, sandwiches and hot drinks to take away from the cafe


We also stock maps and books about the local area, as well as a great selection of greetings cards, post cards, Welsh Gifts and local art.

We’re happy to reserve bread and papers for you during your stay

Talybont-on-Usk is ideally situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, well known for its glorious walking. It’s also very popular with cyclists, canoeists and anyone who loves the great outdoors. We are 10 minutes from Brecon, an hour from Cardiff or Hereford and under 3 hours from London

Amazing little place. We arrived into the village, late, tired and aching with full bags and empty stomachs. We were greeted by friendly faces and incredible hospitality. Despite being ready to close up for the evening, the team stayed open in order to feed me and my companions. We then had one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time, and a great beer to wash it down with. All at a great price point. Would definitely recommend to all, lovely staff and great food.
Excellent Indian curry freshly cooked. Delightfully served. Tip top value for money. Highly recommended.
What a fantastic find ! Lovely breakfast and coffee, and then bought 2 home made curries from the shop for dinner on the hire boat that night. We've found that buying supplies along the canal isn't as easy as you'd think, but this shop is the best by far. See you for breakfast on our way back this Thursday morning
Great service from friendly, helpful staff, particularly a charming young lady, made my visit memorable. The café offers excellent food and coffee, and the attached shop has an impressive variety for a countryside location. I will definitely be visiting again with the kids!!
A brilliant shop with lovely, friendly new owners. I was really pleased to find an array of local products beers, ciders, honey, baked goods at very reasonable prices, and was also helped to find my way to the osprey nest down the river. It was such a nice experience coming here - unexpectedly so for what I thought would be just popping into a shop! Go here and support this place - it's a real gem. I will be back soon and make sure I try one of the homemade curries, which I've no doubt will be delicious!
