Take a Gander is an absolute must. The food was amazing. Three courses for £20 the quality was fantastic. Service was great. The manageress couldn' do enough for us . If you don't go anywhere else Take a Gander is a MUST . You won't be disappointed. Well done to you all who work there Food: 5/5
Fillet was beautiful! Maybe a little over seasoned and to much herb if anything but quality and cooking was good. Pie and mash wasnt homemade. Scotch egg wasn't runny which is disappointing but was tasty nevertheless. Both desserts where burnt badly, couldn't eat at all which is a shame because it could be so nice. Decor lovely and staff ok.
Loved this pub, restaurant is superb, food is delicious and very reasonably priced, well worth a visit. Located across the road from the river Trent, lots of free parking Parking: A large free car park outside the pub
Small portions, we had the 3 course special for 20.00 though actually it was enough, though the pictures of the food differ from what you get but that may be because it was a special menu. We waited quite a long time between courses, though some people may prefer this but we didn't have long. Though the staff were good. Quiet, though ideal for a romantic evening Parking: Ample parking
Just had the most amazing meal, the rib eye steak was so tasty and tender and the fish pie was excellent. We would like to thank all the staff for their warm and friendly welcome and in particular our fab waiter who was so patient over our choice of wine and for his recommendations, he also took the time to chat with us, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Nick & Ann Manchester
Disappointing, the place itself is amazing but it would have been better if the heating had been put on before opening time so that the room was warm and welcoming, we had to eat our lunch with coats on. As for the food what was on the plate’s was delicious but went cold straight away with the cold room temperature, but the dishes of veg that finally arrived were stone cold on delivery and far too aldente and the cauliflower cheese was missing it’s sauce. The biggest insult is the fact that we were asked several times by different people how the meal was and each person said oh I am sorry obviously not sorry enough to offer a discount of any kind. Sadly we won’t be going back or recommending to anyone else
A large party 13 of us arrived and we were tended to very attentively. The service was very good. We ate from the Sunday menu, all the dishes were good and the menu is very well priced. Would highly recommend. Parking: Good sized car park.
The food was excellent and the service was good too. The only thing missing was the fire not being lit, with such a fantastic building and fireplace it needed to . Other than that a great place to visit. We will definitely come again.Food: 5/5
On arrival the table reserved for our party was not set out at all...the area was cold aheater was brought out but didn't seem to work.. main meal there was 3 items off the menu so choice wasn't great. The sweets were the same, alot not available..pot of tea was terrible I should have brought own teabags, food overall very bad the fish had burnt batter well overcooked, the peas were semi cold, chips had a pot of salt on them , service in general very poor very long in-between meals, very slow on drinks, was told they were short staffed but overall if they can't cater or accommodate properly they should not of taken the booking in advance. Will not be returning.
The staff didn't know what was on the menu, we ordered coke told they only had Pepsi so we said ok, then got coke. We asked for beans for the little on, sorry we dont do beans...er there on the menu, fish pie was salmon only, fish and chips dry and overcooked. Other meals were terrible. Definitely wont be going againFood: 1/5
