Visited this establishment whilst on holiday to southampton for a few days. Food was great and the staff was really friendly. I am especially grateful that the staff allowed us to bring in a happy meal that my little one was in the process of finishing. I made a nice video of the place. You can view it on my youtube channel shaan 48 and watch the video titled peppa pig world. Taj Mahal features in the 25th minute of the video.
The owners son has been amazing to us. We had a great laugh and jokes with him. The chef's know what they were doing with our mixed grills. Absolute superb. One of the best Indians I have ever had. Highly recommended
Usually 'Taj Mahal' reminds you as having a calm and romantic atmosphere, but in reality, this restaurant gave me a puking vibe. Chicken was beautiful. However, staff did not serve us edible food it was disgraceful and customer service was very poor. Many of us ended up throwing up the food. When asking the waiter for a refund for the food he replied rudely and we did not end up getting a full refund. We do not consider coming back here ever again and highly do not recommend anyone else to go here.
Connecting through Southampton and was pleasantly surprised with the qualify of the food and service. Highly recommend the tandoori. Mixed grill was very well prepared - superior to similar restaurants. Curries were also good. Naan was not exceptional - but perhaps we had bad luck at the end of the night. Apparently this is a family run restaurant since 1962 and commitment to service was superior. Highly recommend
Staff = awful Cleanliness = dreadful. Little flies every where Our food was given to the table next to us we did not realise at the time! until after many “where is our food?” Checks later the food came out and it was not what we ordered. We then did not have time to eat it even if it had been right so we asked for the bill and left. No apology, no discount off of our drinks and starters just the bill and left hungry! Though this may have been a blessing having seen the dish they tried to serve us! I tend to only right reviews for a somewhere good as every one is quick to judge but this was truly horrendous.
Dee provided us with a wonderful multiple course dinner at reasonable price. Taj Mahal is a place to which we will return
A nice restaurant in Southampton. The service was great and there were Hindi Bollywood songs were playing . After a long time for to have a good Indian food which I posted pics as well. The price was well reasonable and serving were of good quantity. We went there over for dinner and really enjoyed the dinner. They have some special dish of the day as well which is also very good and should try as well. Will suggest everyone to visit this restaurant if they are visiting Southampton once.
My son and I visited this place on the off chance. About 9 pm and a Saturday night. We wanted to eat before having a social drink. As I was driving we had not been drinking. It was not that busy. The member of staff looked at us as if we were something he had stepped in Was refused a table of which there were plenty. Offered only takeaway He said they were shutting early. Rude and arrogant member of staff. We walked out. Lucky for us ee found a lovely Indian restaurant close by which were very happy to greet and serve us.
1 star is a overstatement as to how terrible the food and customer service today. A word of advice to anyone who wants to go here: don't, unless you want to end up vomitting and going home with a empty unhappy stomach. Ps. Maybe if you don't want a headache as well!! 3 people ending up vomiting after the tasteless, weird-smelling mango lassi. Initially, we ordered a chaat and what we ended up with was just not that. The quantities of all the 'dishes' we ordered was incorrect e.g. we ordered 8 bhajis but we were left with 6 and similarly we ordered 7 naans but we got 5. The garlic naan breads were edible yet the chefs managed to mess that up placing large chucks of garlic instead of finely chopping it. I went with a group of 13 people for a diwali dinner and we were all utterly disappointed. The customer service was a dismal. Complaining about cleaning afterwards, judging a friend for having tea at night, lazy to get a new spoon when politely asked, the waiter was just pure disrespectful to us. Overall, it was the worst experience of my life.
Superb food, decent sized portions and very good prices. Staff were good and it's got to be one of the best curries I've had in a looong time. They have a good set menu deal but if you get rice, curry and naan it's not going to cost any more than 13 pounds really and it'll fill most people up!
