First impressions not good. Cars parked on car park covered in tarpaulin and others obviously hadn't been moved in a long time. Treads on stairs had an accumulation of dust and hair on each tread. We shared a family suite of two bedrooms and a bathroom. It appeared some effort has been made to upgrade the bathroom, but there was a hole in the plasterboard behind the door, and the bathmats had seen better days. A couple of the ceiling lights had no bulbs or covers - health & safety hazard? The rooms were cold, unable to put the radiators on. A small electric radiator was already in the room, but this was inefficient at heating both bedrooms. I stayed in the smaller room where there was evidence of damp in the corners and a large damp patch across the ceiling. There was a large crack in the wall by and around the window, there were stains on the curtain. I hardly slept, the bed felt damp, this may have been the cold as I just couldn't get warm. The bathroom light was on a motion sensor, but this kept going on, at one point every 20 minutes, during the night. David, the host, was lovely. Very chatty and friendly. The continental breakfast was plentiful, and my porridge was hot - surprising after being carried up two flights of stairs.
We had a lovely stay here. We were dubious as reviews suggested it wasn't great. We were welcomed by a friendly lady, she showed us to our room which was lovely. Spacious en suite, kettle and tea and coffee, lovely exposed wall which looked lovely. We had a Chinese delivered the first night and David gave us plates and cutlery which was kind. Very chatty and friendly. Bed was a little hard but the pillows and quilt comfortable. We had continental breakfast served to our room, lots of options that we selected the night before, at the time we chose. Lovely warm croissants and French press coffee. Noise travels well, but we weren't really disturbed by it. We stayed on the ground floor, it smelt a little musty in the corridors but this is an old house! Our room was spotless. I believe refurbishments are taking place which is fab. Either way, our room was lovely and I would stay again. Parking plentiful. Thanks for having us! Rooms: Bed was a little hard, but lovely pillows and quilt. Very clean. En suite was bright and spacious Nearby activities: Pier and beach within 5-10 min walk. Shop 5 min walk away as were pubs and restaurants Walkability: Close to local amenities Food & drinks: Lots of continental breakfast options- we had toast, croissants, fruit, yoghurt, cereal bars, orange juice and coffee
David very nice and welcoming. Our room was nice and big but decor needs sorting. Beds were nice and clean but so bloody hard none of us barely slept all night. The bannister in the main staircase very loose that needs sorting. Continental breakfast in rooms a good idea but needs executing better. Cold toast and hardly any butter and as we were on the top floor we did not want to keep going down for more.
Rooms are OK. The place is obviously in the middle of some renovations. Breakfast is very basic and served to your room. Staff member booking us in seemed unclear of what he should be doing. I felt for what it was it was over priced.Rooms: 3/5
We enjoyed our stay. Room was spacious, with 2 singles in an adjoined room, great with younger children. Everything was clean. Breakfast was great, hosts welcoming. Would stay again definitelyRooms: 5/5
Checking in took 15 mins, not sure what was so difficult, rooms look lovely on pictures, but disappointing, in need of vast repair, vastly over priced. The location just about made the stay bearable, next door to royal mail depot so noisy at around 5amService: 1/5
Do not go to this hotel. The manger only thinks about money. Not the customers. Mike and Justin who works there only think about food. They are insists everywhere. They don't even wash they hand before making breakfast. Mike likes to play with women feelings given them false hope and I didn't mistake them for another hotel.Rooms: 1/5
Very helpful staff on arrival. Good sized room with reclining chairs never stayed anywhere with those, really comfy bed. Breakfast was simple but I had no complaints . Coffee was excellent. I would definitely consider staying here again if I’m back in the area.
Don't like to leave negative reviews, but my recent stay here really wasn't great. Some sort of extenuating circumstances meant the organisation of the hotel had gone wrong, so they were not sure who to expect or when. Whilst our room was clean and ready although without sufficient towels friends we were staying with were not so lucky. Our room was clean and otherwise appropriately equipped, and the shower was unexpectedly very good. Room 3 The hotel feels in need of investment, with the rooms feeling dated and a little tired. We did not have breakfast so can't comment. The location of the hotel is great, being only five minutes walk from the seafront. Parking was good.
Really enjoyed our 1 night stay here last night, Dave was really helpful and friendly, solved a problem we had with the shower straight away, the room was really comfortable with a separate reclining sofa/Tv area. The en suite shower and toilet were very quirky/bizarre and seemed a little out of place but added to the overall enjoyment of our stay, would stay here again if in the area
