One of the weirdest places to stay ever. Positives - man at the desk very helpful and friendly. Room a very good size. Negatives - the most uncomfortable bed ever. I've slept in the back of vans more comfy. The "ensuite" was a glorified shed in the room with seperate compartments for toilet and shower...the sink however was in the other corner of the room in the living space. The sink which gurgled and sounded like water or sewage was going to be coming UP any minute. Very weird. The noise of people shouting in the hall went on for hours and can hear every footstep in the room above banging away. Fish tanks in the main hall look filthy and feel sorry for the fish living in there. Didn't bother with breakfast, which was mostly serve yourself, just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible!

Unfortunately we had to cancel our booking as my friend was ill. The owners were so helpful and understanding, clearly lovely genuine people which to me is a reflection that Cavell House is a lovely place to stay. We will definitely book for our next reunion.

Nice place but extremely dated, price per night wasn't far away from standard price, but the room standard wasn't even close to average. Paint was peeling from the ceiling, room was cold, toilet was weirdly build inside the room. Next time I will stai in Holiday Inn or Premier Inn.
