The Sussex Arms is a pub near the Twickenham Green. It is well known for it's large and pleasant back garden. It has a large selection of beers, ciders and wines. It has a good kitchen and an extensive menu. Sunday roasts are especially well done. We returned this Sunday to enjoy the leg of lamb with fresh vegetables, topped off with custard covered apple pie. It was great.
More cask ale than you could ever need, all kept in good condition. Selection of Big Smoke Brewery beers alongside guests from far and wide. Heritage interior, garden to front and rear. Full food menu available - the Sunday roasts looked huge, and were hugely popular!
Nice local Pub with nice atmosphere and friendly enough service. Great Pies with a quite large selection of beer and wine. I would recommend visiting if you are in the area. There is indoor as well as outdoor seating.
This pub had alluded me for no reason other than I've just not been arsed to walk to Twickenham. It's an area I'd typically try and avoid any given weekend due to the outpouring of Jean and Sheux, Land Rovers and gilet wearing family entourages spoiling any opportunity for a quiet pint. So, hit it when there's no rugby on, and when it's forecasted to be a torrential downpour. Prime Twickenham stomping weather. I'd walked over from Surbiton, and at the other end was this pub. Originally an 1837 beer house, significantly renovated in 2011 but kept the *good bones* you can slap once you walk in. Lovely layout, spacious, accommodating and a large garden too. Loosely affiliated to Big Smoke I believe, sort of like how Bricklayers, The Lyric and Express Tavern are? - but unlike those, the beer selection here is *vast*, and specifically the cask selection. I counted 18 maybe? Could've been more. Opted for a pint of the Windsor and Eton pale ale which flew down. It's no easy task to maintain that much cask, but the local plaudits seem to keep pouring in for them, regularly in the GBG and voted best pub by the exact-pint chaser CAMRA crew no foam plz. Can't wait to come back here tbf. If the food is as good as the other loosely related pubs I'm sure a Sunday Roast session here would be unstoppable. Anyway, if you plan on coming, Strawberry Hill probably the best station, it's sort of equidistant between that, Whitton and Twickenham. Whatever's easiest. Or you can walk...
So went here for my first time, asked for pork belly Sunday roast and everything was good apart from the meat, impossible to chew it. Told the staff, apologized and took me the dessert off the bill only. Apple pie one of the bests that I had.
The best place to eat steak or pork ribs. Bar tenders too are very polite and very helpful. I am looking forward to coming back to this place soon.
Proper pub, great atmosphere as there was Six Nations on in the pub. Food was excellent, I had steak pie and I'd definitely recommend it washed down with Harvey's Sussex Bitter that to was a cracking pint.
Enormous beer garden out back, and their play area caters for families with small kids. Went on a Sunday and had their 2 person roast to share. Enjoyed this immensely
This decent pub keeps a wide range of beers and ciders. It serves good affordable grub and has a good bunch of friendly staff. .
Great place for a drink, Amazing selection of tap beers, lagers and ciders. Staff are very knowledgeable. Food is amazing. Especially Sunday Roast. The sharing roast is very good value. Nice play area for the kids and a huge garden. Plus Alice Cooper the cat too
