Lovely afternoon at Summerlee Museum. Unfortunately, it rained on and off, but we had a fantastic time exploring. There is so much to see and interact with. So many different interesting sections, like the old town houses. Lovely walk around, big play park, toys and play areas throughout for the children.nFree to visit. Cafe, wee sweet shop and gift shop. Can't wait to go back and explore the mine, which was shut due to the weather.
Lego show was fantastic. So much fun for the kids, they was able to interact with loads of the activities.
Great day out, staff very friendly, great cafe.nLet's you see what life must have been like for the miners.
Really great place, would definitely recommend a visit. Free entry and lots to see and do. Exhibits are well laid out with good descriptions, and a walk along the canal adds to the experience. Our favourite part were the living rooms and kitchens done up in the style of the time, from the 1980's back to the late 19th century. Brought back a lot of memories of our own living room and that of our grandparents! The attention to detail in the rooms really brought it to life.nnWell worth a visit and I would definitely go again if I'm ever in the area.
Excellent museum with interesting exhibits. And it's free! Good play park, and you can do a circular walk. Only let-down is the cafe. Staff were lovely, but the food on offer was your standard fare. I so wish councils over here would visit some of Edinburghs museums to see how cafes there become destination places in their own right. In spite of that, it's a great day out with the kids.
