We received a very warm welcome from Jo who looked after my wife and I during our two night stay our room was spacious king size bed and a bed settee plenty of room for our two dogs digger and Rufus spacious bathroom good views over newbiggin village and fells beyond the food was superb we had duck spring rolls plenty of filling piping hot salmon in hollandaise sauce with asparagus and a selection of fresh vegetables I had the belly busting steak pie couldn't manage a sweet second night chicken mustard and whiskey soup delicious lambs liver and bacon served on a bed mashed potatoes and pork medallions in a creamy pepper sauce freshly cooked vegetables lemon tart to finish the prices are very reasonable the breakfast was also excellent a choice of full English salmon and scrambled eggs eggs hollandaise kipper fillet and poached eggs a selection of cereals toasts and preserves all the waiting staff looked after us both too much trouble and very polite too thank you everyone for making our weekend special

Lovely village pub. Beers in good condition - Semer Water, Theakston's Best and John Smith's Cask. Good food. Something for everyone in the four sections: linnen table-clothed dining at the bottom, a few pub tables in the quiet next section, more tables in the noisier bar area, and up at the top there are two dart boards, a pool table and a tv.

Very nice pub, with delicious food and reasonably priced drinks. All main meals come with a choice of veggies or salad, and chips or potatos, making the food portions huge! You definitely won't walk away hungry!! I had the veggie stroganoff and I would definitely reccomend it. The pub unfortunately doesnt open untill 6pm which is a bit annoying, but its well worth the wait

The Sunday carvery is absolutely superb and very good value 💰 staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Make sure to book a table as it is very popular with both locals and people from the caravan park. 🐏🐑
