I have used Strakers as a managing agent for a year now. Always found David (lettings) very amenable and the prices very reasonable.

We viewed a house with Strakers in Swindon. As their fees were nearly £100 more than other Swindon agents (in April 2010) we asked what extra service they provided that other, cheaper, agents didn't. They replied that they had to charge more because tenants could never be fully trusted(!). We tried to negotiate the fee down to one more in line with standard local rates but they refused to budge. Luckily the house we wanted was also advertised through a second agent. After paying our fees through this second (very friendly) company Strakers rang us and said they did want our custom after all and that, as we had already paid our fees, they would not charge us again. This seemed somewhat desperate to us. On this basis I would suggest they are not worth as a tenant - being overpriced, desperate and verging on the unprofessional - conducting business with.
