Very accessible train station, new path towards the freshly built bus interchange in the heart of the city, spacious platforms + regular train announcements. I always enjoy going to this station because it feels like a breath of fresh air. You can access a good chunk of the country including North Wales and Manchester. Oh and the interchange I mentioned is amazing as well. Would definitely recommend
It's an easy station to navigate. It has character and charm, there are not too many steps but I did struggle with my small heavy suitcase as the lift to Platform 1 was out of order today. Clear up to date info through tannoy was helpful.
I cannot thank the staff at Stockport Station enough. I was travelling from there to Southampton on Sunday 13/07/2025 and my original train was cancelled due to over running work on the track. The Manager on that day was brilliant, he got me onto a train going to Manchester, after requesting the train manager to allow me to travel on his train, so that I had a seat, as the train was going to be extremely full. I travelled from Manchester back through Stockport and onto Southampton. Thank you for being so kind and helpful to all those concerned.
Stockport railway station is a fantastic travel hub! The station is well-maintained and clean, with clear signage that makes navigation easy, even for first-time visitors. The staff are always friendly and willing to help with any inquiries. I appreciate the variety of facilities available, including clean restrooms, a good selection of shops, and ample seating areas. The trains are punctual, and the connections to major cities are excellent. The overall experience at Stockport station is always pleasant and efficient. Highly recommended for anyone traveling through the area!nn---
There is a lot of change going at the present time. There is no central bus station anymore. However, signage does help someone find the right bus stop. I'm very critical with regard to public wheelchair accessible toilets. The single that did exist was at the bus station, which is now a commercial building being constructed at the present time. Granted, there are some businesses like McDonald's that do have wheelchair and disabled persons toilets. However, it's my experience that they are often closed.nSadly, due to austerity measures, some of the big names, such asnC & A, Marks and Spencer, and some smaller businesses shut in recent times. What shops there are pretty decent with the likes of Primark and the reinvigorated shopping centre with the likes of Waterstones and others offering shopping opportunities there for we consumers. There are other attractions, such as the WW2 bomb shelters, and there are architectural attractions, e.g., old buildings, bridges, and so on. In particularthe magnificent railway arches which, honestly, impossible to miss! Sort out the public disabled persons toilet Stockport Council, please! That is why I rated Stockport 4 stars and not five.
