Stir Restaurant
"Stir Restaurant is one of the best spots for a pre-theatre dinner in Dublin. Enjoy the seasonal European and Irish dishes from the special Pre-theatre menu. The restaurant’s location is remarkable, as it is so close to Grand Canal Square, and just across the street from the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. It is also only a few minutes’ walk away from 3Arena."

The food was very poor, most things on the menu were fast food. I asked a suggestion to the chef as I have intolerances and followed the chef's advice. Somehow, I still got sick for 2-3 days after this meal. And couldn't eat anything after 3-4 days. Dietary restrictions: Even when I followed the chef's instructions to have a gluten-free and dairy-free meal, I was sick for 2-3 days.
Dined in the Stir restaurant with girlfriend Clayton hotel Cardiff lane, Dublin on Fri 140423. From the moment of arrival we did not feel welcome at all by staff members. I ordered and a wrong item was sent out to me which I had to dispute the price when leaving. When it came to deserts we were told there would be a fair waiting time so we decided to go and pay our bill. We were passed between several staff members before we could finally pay our bill. Would definitely not recommend eating here to people.
Well below average for hotel standard. Long wait to be served, longer wait for drinks, food served before drinks, uncooked meat on meal, wait staff I could see were very stressed, no apologies at end of meal actually I had to say about the uncooked meal I sent back untouched to which I could have lied about other items hence the unorganised setup. Unfortunate because hotel and area is lovely just let down by this aspect possibly an out sourced company. Sorry for such a dim essay but for €100 meal and drinks I expected much more from a hotel.
Nothing good to say about my experience here.Table booked for 16 people after the show.No glasses on the table, had to go get our own jugs of water.Couldnt get anyone remotely interested in getting me a drink. Took two hours to get dinner after numerous complaints. When it arrived the veg was overcooked and the broccoli was discoloured,no way was it fresh. Not once did anyone come to us to ask if we wanted another drink or if everything was ok. Staff are appallingly uninterested. The manager offered us a discount but that turned into bedlam when we went to pay. The guy at the till, who seemed to be an assistant manager even threatened to call the police on one lady in our group if she didn't move back, this lady was 80 yrs old. We are all active retired and had to travel back to carlow, and due to the lack of any management skills and proper customer service we spent 3 1/2 hrs there waiting on our food and to pay. My advice ,seriously avoid this place to eat,its a disaster.
Booked in via Hotel and prepaid. Had email to confirm. Restaurant refused to honour booking and told us they would serve us in the hotel lobby instead. 35 minutes passed and no one from the restaurant offered to serve us. Explained all of this to Clayton Hotel and to be fair to reception they offered a refund for the food we never got. My advice: if staying at the Clayton Cardiff Lane, book food elsewhere, the staff in the food section don't want to see you.
Went for a bite to eat before a show. As we didn't have a reservation, we were seated at a comfortable table in the upstairs lobby. Our server Kayleigh was very friendly and efficient. We each had deep fried haddock which was perfectly cooked and delicious. My wife's dessert of meringue topped with fresh fruit was a disappointment as the meringue cases were dry, hard and appeared to be bought in. Overall, an enjoyable experience and I would definitely go back for the fish.
Ordered seafood chowder which at every place I have ever eaten at serves in a chowder bowl, today I was served it in a saucer unbelievable 9 euro for 5 mouthfuls. Real rip off IrelandFood: 1/5
This is a beautiful restaurant. The food is amazing, at first we thought the portions looked small but it was just right. I ordered the chicken supreme and it was so tasty. The staff were a bit slow to bring the drinks and at one stage a drink was forgotten about until we reminded the waitress 20 minutes later. At breakfast on the Sunday it was so busy. They kept running out of food and had to be reminded to stock up
Sat 30 mins before we were acknowledged, an hour before any food arrived. Had two waitresses who each didn't have a clue about anything- when asked what the pasta of the day was, one answered, "uhm, something tomato...?". Cups were smeared and dirty. Steak sandwich was simultaneously rare and well done. Friend said the Guinness tasted soapy. We ate here due to a hotel special. 10/10 NOT eat here again. Here's hoping breakfast is palatable.
GO ELSEWHERE. Extremely poor service, high prices, poor food, and swapped ingredients. Go elsewhere if you are able to, many better places within 2 blocks. We were coming into an almost empty restaurant at 7:00pm. Seated at a dirty table both chair and booth were covered in crumbs that was missing the side plates. Were given only dinner menus, no drink menus. Manager came by and asked for our orders 3 minutes after we sat down, while they dropped off bread we had no plate to eat it on. We ordered and asked for a drink menu, they never came back. Meanwhile another couple was seated directly next to us, in the empty restaurant. The waiter for that table noticed, gave us the drink menu, and then took our drink orders when they were dropping off food for the other table. Tom Collins cocktail was weak, tasteless, and 13 euro! Turns out despite claiming Tanquery, they use Gordon's gin... Food arrived wrong, carrots, parsnips, and whole poorly roasted potatoes instead of green beans and mashed potatoes. Everything was bland and underwhelming. Burger was terrible, couldn't eat it. Literally ate the bread over the burger. Hake needed salt, pepper, and butter to even be edible. Waited 15 minutes to try and pay, ended up having to walk to the front and get someone unrelated to our table to take way too much money before we could leave. Seriously, save yourself a very expensive and wasted evening and go elsewhere.
