The Garden Room
"The Garden Room is a fresh idea for a restaurant. A less formal affair by a formal garden, a relaxed experience in The Merrion hotel. A restaurant with character, comfortable, with a menu designed for sharing tastes and flavours and whimsical combinations, created by gifted Executive Chef Ed Cooney and his team."

Went here for Christmas Day lunch. It was delicious, staff were so nice, and cocktails were excellent. Will be making a booking to come here again next Christmas.
This place was amazing! My family and I can here to celebrate my birthday and our server , a really lovely red haired girl named Laura I believe , went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible . We couldn’t have been happier. She is a credit to this place :
Mixed review, stunning interior and exterior. Food was nice but not outstanding I would say, I have eaten better close by,expected more. What let's it down is the service, some staff v pleasant, others not 5 star service...daughter not provided with a kids menu by waitress we had to request one..table not cleaned down between service as done in local eateries pearl brasserie and DAX, crumbs left on table for duration of our meal. No one monitoring table to ask if we would like another drink when glasses empty..had to ask ourselves. Our bill was high as you would expect from 5 star establishment, yet service not 5 star imo.
Really nice setting for lunch. Not cheap and probably over priced but you're paying for the location and the name as well as the food. Positives were the service and the Pork main was delicious. Negatives were the Tuna steak being overcooked and it was meant to come with scallops which never appeared.
I have been a very frequent visitor to Patrick Guilbaud over the years so was excited to try The Garden Room at the Merrion Hotel. The Pros: - Ambience is excellent and decor is stunning - Staff are pleasant, be it somewhat inattentive Cons: - The menu lacks any inspiration and the food is extremely overpriced for what it is. The prices are close to those of Patrick Guilbaud for example The Black Sole is €44, however the quality of food is closer to banquet catering. - My main was absolutely inedible - as seen from the photo the lamb was incredibly tough, chewy and almost impossible to cut. It was both a terrible cut of lamb and cooked by a novice chef. The fact that this piece of meat cleared the chef to get in front of a customer at this level of a restaurant is unforgivable. - The staff although pleasant, are incredibly inattentive. Again, even though I went during a Sunday when it wasn't busy it took almost 15 mins to be able to get a member of staff's attention to explain to them that my meat was inedible. I would expect staff to have come by a short time after our dishes were served to ask if everything was ok, rather than having to try and constantly signal them. Thus this made any form of remedy on my food impossible, as my family had already nearly finished their mains. There are too many reason as to why I would never return, amongst those the fact that everybody at my table was unimpressed by their dishes.
The ambiance and the environment is lovely and classy. Overall We had a great time. The restaurant has huge windows overlooking the inner garden and fountains part of Merrion Hotel which is one of the best hotels in Dublin. The service is good and friendly. The hallway leading to the restaurant has fantastic art. On the downside: i some of the cutlery and glasses were not clean and didn’t smell fresh. ii the food is below expectation.
Thank you so much to the staff of the Garden room for making my daughters Graduation day end with such an enjoyable evening. It was truly beautiful with amazing food and service. I would definitely recommend the Garden Room for those special days or a great place for a catch up with friends very relaxed ambience. Thank you again to all the staff
Quiet. Lovely service. A hidden gem. The garden is beautiful and the food is lovely for a light lunch. Many veggie and vegan options too!
We had an excellent full Irish breakfast here. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The attention to detail here really makes the experience, even the raspberry jam is custom made and delicious.
Lovely comfortable setting, excellent attentive staff, unique and well thought-out vegan and vegetarian options
