Stansfield Arms
"The Stansfield Arms dates back to 1543. This historic, beamed pub and restaurant is set in idyllic Apperley Bridge area, close to the River Aire and surrounded by countryside. It is popular spot for walkers, cyclists and dog owners, as well as a destination for diners who appreciate the high quality of the food on offer. The Stansfield is perfect for any occasion, whether a romantic meal for two on the sun-dappled decking or a large family celebration. Our large, south-facing terrace is ideal for a summer pint and in the winter months, enjoy a pint and a pie in front of a roaring fire. We pride ourselves on the quality of our homemade food, which is all freshly prepared with great love and care."

We had a family meal on Sunday which consisted of 9 people, one a toddler. The table was in the right part of the pub to allow the little one to have some room. Service was excellent although we had to wait quite a while for our food to arrive. Two people had the Sunday roast and said it was excellent. My turbot was well cooked and the smashed potatoes really tasty. Nice atmosphere and nice surroundings, will be back sometime.
I've never been to the Stansfield Arms before. But straight off the bat, I have to say the staff were great, attentive, and smiling and never in a rush. My Starter was Muscles in a white source, but I like my muscles just plain steamed, which the chef very obligingly did for me. My main course was Steak&Ale Pie, with a choice of green vegetables, beautifully cooked parsnips, served with deep golden brown chips, along with a rich beef gravy. I'd say the chips were the best I've ever eaten. Coming back to the pie, contained in crusty pastry, the steak was tender, no suspicious chewy bits either. The pie was superb. Our experience at the Stansfield Arms was excellent, service and food excellent. We'll certainly be coming here again. Highly recommended.
This was my first time visiting Stansfield Arms and I will 100% be going again. The food was amazing the atmosphere was really relaxed and enjoyable. There was a mix up with our food so we were waiting over an hour but the staff were extremely apologetic and offered a free round of drinks and didn’t charge us for the meal. I cannot fault the service other than the mix up but these things happen. I would recommend Standfield Arms to annoying looking for a nice meal in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Fabulous pub, warm welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We went for the Sunday roast and were not disappointed. The food was fantastic, the staff were pleasant and extremely accommodating. Pet friendly and suitable for all sizes of parties. 100% recommended and we will definitely be returning in the near future.Food: 5/5
Good pub/restaurant. Varied menu although not cheap. Good range of ales and select wine list- moderately priced. Atmosphere good. Service good to start off with then tailed off towards the dessert and coffee end of the meal. Shame as this spoilt the evening.Food: 4/5
Long time since my last visit but called in for a beer. Was served by a very professional and welcoming member of staff , nothing was too much trouble for Matt, who also recomended the hand pulled beer. Will call again for a meal, good menu selection, as am quite local. Other pubs should take note of their excellent customer service. Great pub inside and out.
Very tasty food in a lovely historic building. Mussels and sirloin and sticky toffee are very good. Waiters always smiley and friendly.Food: 5/5
Wow this place surprised me! It has changed a lot since I visited about ten years ago and I am looking forward to returning again. The service was exceptional the waiting and kitchen staff were so friendly and helpful. The menu has lots of gluten free options but we asked if two starters could be adapted which the chefs were happy to do. My friend and i shared the beetroot and prawn starter. They were both absolutely delicious! So so tasty ! We both had the cheese beef burger , asked for one with no bacon and one gluten free. We also upscaled them to have sweet potato wedges and parmesan fries! The burger was very tasty and juicy, the toppings worked so well in the burgers. The portion of sweet potato wedges was huge and cooked well. The parmesan fries were just yummy! Obviously no pudding after that lot! The restaurant can accommodate wheel chair users, and mobility aids. They were all set up for young children too. The toilets were clean and maintained. There is a great outdoor area at the front of the building. With a recent extension to the car park there are plenty of spaces. We cannot wait to return. Dietary restrictions: Fantastic gluten free choices
I was driving around and I saw a summer garden, so I stopped to freshen up and have something to eat, because there were a lot of people there. I didn't know how it worked there, so I tried to ask someone, but the staff were uncommunicative, so I asked if they have table service , can I sit down or should I go in and order , so she told me that there is payment in advance, and that if I don't like it, that I should go sit in the car and drive away, that other customers can park , so I was surprised by the approach and I replied that I will pay in advance, that it is not a problem for me , I ordered some food and drink , the price did not match the quality of the food. I had a stomach ache , and friend who was with me as well . we said that we chose probably the worst food from the menu . We went there again , we were invisible again , and we waited for someone to come to our table to give us the menu, twice I had to tell the staff to bring me the menu . I didn't feel welcome, I finally got up and left . Nice idea summer terrace / garden , but bad organization, depressed faces on a summer day . uncommunicative rude unfriendly employees and expensive disgusting food on top of that.
We cannot praise The Stansfield enough. Our Golden Wedding celebration yesterday was faultless. Matthew and Izzie looked after our every need in the most efficient and professional manner. There were 34 of us and everyone thought it was wonderful. The food was fantastic, exactly as ordered, on time, hot and delicious. The tables were set out exactly as we wanted and we were all made to feel most welcome. We have been eating here for over 50 years now and highly recommend The Stansfield. Thank you for making our celebration so special x Dietary restrictions: They accommodated all our needs without hesitation Parking: Absolutely fine. No problems. Plenty of spaces. Wheelchair accessibility: Excellent
