Thank you to Triage Chloe and then Nurse Clare for their invaluable help early on Bank Holiday Monday, 2nd January. I hope I’ve remembered their names correctly. I was so grateful they were there and both were so very helpful and supportive. Many thanks.
As usual couldn't get an appointment with my GP so as a last resort came here was seen triage by a nurse then a Dr in under an hour who prescribed antibiotics for an infection on my lower leg who said I need to see my GP with another problem discovered brilliant service lovely staff. As for my GP rang all i got was a telephone appointment from my GP which was later cancelled by them as no Dr's available on date first arranged had to ring again and rearrange for a later date what a joke
I've just been to the radiology unit for an xray that my gp booked and was amazed! What a fantastic service, the UTC was overflowing but was directed to xray by a very friendly man, where the was just 1 person before me. A lovely radiologist saw to me in no time.
I took my son here with bone injury a few days ago as many other places were on strike. A lovely lady called Sandra , a nurse practitioner, catered to our needs and was very pleasant . Wonderful service, professional employees, overall amazing.
Shocking service my 19 year old has been sick for weeks with her tonsils I'm no doctor but can see it's septic tonsils can't get an appointment at her doctors and tell us to ring in the morning or ring 111 which we have and they advise the walk in centre so I took to her around 6pm she checked in at the desk and came and sat down and said the women told her it was advice only the room was half full so I said does that mean we are gonna sit here and not get a prescription so I went up to the desk myself and she said no said the same thing to me so I said so there's no point in waiting is there and she said the triage is only 10 mins wait so best to wait so this is what we did. People where walking out with prescriptions in there hand from other rooms. 25 mins later called through the women would not even look at her throat she took details and told us to come back in the morning what a complete waste of time. Her advice was try Halton walkin Centre or take her the hospital what a joke
Wouldn't see me said they had shut doors early because they had been busy during the day and said I couldnt go in. I slipped and cracked the back of my head very hard. I just wanted someone to take a quick look in my eyes to reassure me as my head is stinging and pounding badly. Even if I could, I don't want to put added pressure on the hospital, when I have local services who should help me anyway. I said I was unable to get to Whiston, never mind sit in waiting room for 19 hours with my health problems and she said that was only option or ring 111, which they would probably say the same.. I said I hope I wake up in the morning then , and she was just "ok bye" I thought nhs was caring proffession. Most probably are but some institutions like st helens walk in just give it a bad name. We'll let's pray I wake.
Was seen within 5 mins by the nurse then 5 mins later by the doctor. Great service. Shame no pharmacy there now but got prescription from Tesco pharmacy.
I came here as a last resort as I want getting much help from my GP, no one seemed to want to help me until I spoke with one of the doctors at this walk in and she was so kind and understanding, and prescribed me what I wanted, actual life saver thank you
I visited the walk centre today and waited for about two and a half hours and I was given a thourough examination and advice from a gp who seemed to have time for his patient. This reminded me of my go practice twenty years ago which was in effect a walk in centre I just want to thank you so much and I wonder why gp practices are not as they were.
We are currently on our 3rd trip to the walk in centre with my mother in law for simple dressing changes and for the 3rd time we are currently waiting in excess of 3hrs which for a 75 year old lady with a variety of conditions is a massive undertaking. I fully understand the principle of triage but dressing changes don't need triage and can be covered by a health care assistant so could someone please let us into what is actually going on. Incidentally, we have had to return here for the dressings changed as the community service that we were pointed to last time we were in has a 4 week.... Yes 4 WEEK wait for a dressing change appointment. The dressing would have literally walked off her legs themselves by then.
