Unimpressed. I had chicken biryani. Average at best. Chicken was dry and nothing else other than rice. I could do better myself at home and certainly not worth £16! What really ticked me off though was the sneaky S/C charge on my bill. Nothing said till I queried. And only when I suggested it should be up to the customer did they say they could remove it. Of course I left it on. Service was fine. But it is underhanded IMHO. I will not be back.
Yes the environment was welcoming and cosy, but the food was poorly made and expensive. I've definitely tasted better. EastZEast is a 5 minute walk from Spice Lounge, I recommend paying a visit there instead.
Well I've read some terrible reviews if this place...average food and poor service....What a crock!!! ...The occasions I've been the food has been superb. Be aware that the portions are huge...share rice, sides and mains. The place is busy and the staff work their proverbial off making sure that you get your food and drink in good time. Ignore the nah sayers and give it a go...its well worth it.
Wonderful service! Great food with lots of flavor. One of the best restaurants I've been to in Liverpool. I like spice and this place has plenty of it. I hardly write reviews but when I saw this place had such low marks, I felt the need to write a review. The owner even brought us a complimentary additional dish!
My wife and I have just visited The Spice Lounge for an evening meal. When we arrived we were asked to sit and wait in the lounge. We waited a while but we weren't asked if we would like a drink or brought a menu so I went to the bar and fetched drinks for us. We were soon shown to our table. We ordered starters, main courses and a bottle of wine which were served promptly. The food was really delicious. When we had finished our main courses and the plates etc were cleared away - we sat and finished our wine. We sat for 35 minutes and no one came near our table to ask if we would like desserts, coffee or more drinks from the bar. We tried to catch the waiters' eye but none of them even glanced our way. It was very strange. After this length of time of being - what we felt - ignored, we managed to call across to a waiter at another table and ask for the bill. We paid and left. No one asked if we had enjoyed our meal, said thank you for our custom or even goodbye. Disappointing! Lovely food but inconsistent service - we won't return.
Not your average british Indian restaurant. The food choices are much better, and the vegetarian dishes that we both had were unusual and really tasty. Good service, and nice atmosphere in a covered dock land warehouse. We would definitely return if we comes back to this area.
Great service, really lovely food, many dishes that I'd never heard of, but excellent advice from the waiting staff. Prices comparable to other local restaurants, around £35 per head for starter, main, side dish and drinks plus the service charge this is included in the bill. I'd definitely eat here again but sadly am only in the area for a short while.
Delicious vegetarian food, unusual menu items and refreshing not to see the usual suspects on a menu tikka masala, rogan Josh etc so we had to take a guess at what sounded good and it did not disappoint. Service was fantastic and personal even though it was busy with 2 big groups. Don't usually review but my husband and I really loved spice Lounge. It is pricey, but there's a menu outside so it's no surprise!!
The food was delicious. The lamb in the curry was very succulent and tender. The staff were polite and professional and everything about the place made it an extremely pleasant evening. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
They the best Biryani in the country. I bring visitors from all around the world to this chic Indian restaurant. It has a prime location and the owner is there everyday, making sure everyone is pleased with both the food and the service. As a testament of how good this restaurant is, half of my visitors who I don't see often find this restaurant the highlight of their visit to Liverpool - and Liverpool is a really touristic City.
