I had my cataract removed just over 3 weeks ago.  I was petrified to say the least.  I really couldn't fault my treatment.  The staff were brilliant and put my mind at rest.  I have to have the other eye done later in the year.  Thank you to everyone at Spamedica and I'll not be petrified next time!

I waited to post the review following both cataract operations. The initial consultation and assessments were friendly well-organized, and managed. The first cataract operation appointment made, at the time of the initial consultation. This process was efficient, due to no delays on post, or third parties making the appointment.   My first attendance for surgery, I was a little anxious. This abated as everything was explained. The surgeon who undertook my first cataract, asked if I had questions and took me through to the theatre. There I found it totally refreshing as I was introduced to his team this would happen for the second operation on the other eye. I felt like I was being treated as the person and not a number, as he conversed with me. The rooms are ultra clean and the theatre was pristine.  As I approached the second cataract operation I did feel a little apprehensive.  As before; pre the operation all staff were competent, administering drops etc.  When I met the next surgeon, he too was pleasant, and asking prior to taking me through to theatre, if I had any questions. Having read all the literature previously, I asked if he could inform me as to the type of material used for the lenses.  Not only did he go into the number of lenses, but what these were made of, and the expectation of that, and what I was being fitted with. I was amazed as he went back into the theatre and brought me a box of the lenses being used. I am now informed of the component in both my eyes, which again made me feel part of the process. Absolutely first class. Leading me through to theatre he too introduced his team. He further explained parts of the procedure, as he was undertaking this, which provided patient confidence.  Directly following the surgery the post op advice and medication drops supplied after each surgery, gave another opportunity to ask questions. All of the literature pre & post op was extremely helpful, and providing contact numbers if required. I further found the Medication Tracker card really helpful to ensure that drops were not being missed. Excellent service received from a great company. Having been referred for a cataract operation I was nervous but all the staff from the man who I met at the front door to all the staff I met on the day from start to finish made it a great experience. Staff so professional and a credit to the health profession.
