Its nice enough but like all of these places you could be in any town or city because they have all the same shops in them. Its better to explore the small streets and ally in Bath to find the independent traders who sell things that are a bit different.

Bath's premier shopping district, A good range of higher end shops and high street names such as Next, Boots etc.. There is a range of excellent food establishments within the area. Its across from the train station and has excellent links to surrounding areas.

Southgate, for me, is nothing special. Just a collection of chain stores and restaurants. The coffee kiosk in the middle is great, but the chairs are so low they are definitely not elderly or mobility issue friendly. (Believe me, I'm affected by both! And no way can I get out of them!) Soulless is how I'd describe the place.

The usual chain shops with a smattering of nice places to eat. The perfect distraction before seeing the rich history and independent shops in the rest of Bath.

Growing up in Bath in the 80's - I can remember the shopping "centre" that this replaced - this has transformed the main shopping area from dank to vibrant. There are lots of great shops, many big chains but a few smaller ones dotted around too. The area is pedestrian free and usually has some great entertainment, on street food stalls and even deck chairs to relax in. There are plenty of places to grab a coffee (of course!) And loads of places to eat. Worth a visit!
