Really feels friendly and inviting atmosphere as you walk through the door, especially on a cold blustery day! Staff (And customers) are very friendly, offering very good food at reasonable prices. I had the cod and chips and it was possibly the best I'd ever had. The chips were chunky and not greasy, the batter on the cod was extremely light and not at all greasy, and the enormous portion of cod was perfectly cooked - light and fluffy and delicious! I think the peas would have been better mushy but that's my personal taste. Lovely meal, gem of a lunchtime pub, totally recommended.

Good beer and food. Try the baked cod - delicious. Very quiet when we visited on a Monday afternoon but can get pretty busy at times. Staff were very pleasant.

The food and ale is very good. Staff friendly and i love the old furniture. £4 a pint is too much considering the beer is made almost on your doorstep. Very small place but worth a visit. 1 star less due to the beer price, £3.50 would be more appropriate.

Great selection of beers from the Adnams brewery (across the road). Bar is in a nice spot and staff are pleasant and friendly. Food menu is reasonably priced (fish and chips £11.95, most other meals between £10.50 and £12.95). Well worth a visit.

A decent meal, with some lacklustre service. The food and drinks served here are up to a good standard, well made cocktails and usual high quality Adnams drinks (the brewery is just over the road). The staff here were hit and miss, with some being very friendly and smiley while others being quite grumpy and not very chatty. Saying that, the atmosphere here is great, lots of locals that are more than willing to have a bit of small talk, and nice decor inside. Would probably go somewhere else on my next visit to Southwold, but not saying at all that this place should be avoided.
