I really like the atmosphere in Sloans, known as one of the oldest if not the oldest pubs and restaurants in Glasgow. The events are great, really good entertainment and well organised, although the food can be a bit hit and miss. The comedy acts on a Sunday at the ballroom were great!Recommended dishesMacaroni Cheese
Sloans, reputedly Glasgow's oldest pub, offers a charming atmosphere steeped in history. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal or a drink with friends. We had a voucher for the mac and cheese, and it certainly did not disappoint. Creamy and rich, it was a comfort food classic, perfectly baked with a golden crust on top, parmigiana and basil. The portion size was generous, making it a satisfying choice. It also includes fries with a variety of toppings. Crispy bacon, sundried tomatoes, a variety of cheeses and many more To accompany my meal, I chose a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. It was crisp and refreshing, complementing the richness of the mac and cheese nicely. Overall, my experience at Sloans was delightful. The combination of delicious food, a good selection of drinks, and the pub's historical charm make it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike. If you’re looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy classic comfort food and a nice wine, Sloans is definitely worth checking out!
Good was good, there was no room inside so we sat outside on their cool little patio area, unfortunately that made service non-existent. The atmosphere was neat though as it’s tucked in a little alley off the main strip.Food: 3/5
Acting on the advice of an excellent local tour guide, we found Sloan's and its near-invisible entranceway and its young and attractive patrons. Music and conversation are at higher volumes, but the outer courtyard and inner floors have so many nooks that a quieter spot could always be found. Excellent ale and whisky selection along with all those funky colored vodkas that the youngsters enjoy. Reasonable prices. Nice staff. Never made to feel out of place even if we were among the oldest 60s in the establishment.
Service charge of 10% after I ordered drinks n food don't mind but I prefer giving a tip. Got out own cutlery n condiments n brought our own drinks to the table only service was bringing meal to the tableFood: 5/5
A busy city centre pub, Sloan's is one of Glasgow's oldest bars, the interior on all the floors is dark wood and tiles, with lots of preserved period details. The range of beers available is always good and changes regularly when it comes to local ales. There is a large outdoor drinking area for a city centre pub that has infra red heating in areas. Well worth a visit, but it's fairly noisy on the weekends.
Didn't eat but had a drink and it seemed a friendly place. Had a great buzz to it and I loved the outside areas.Service: 4/5
Went in for a drink beak from shopping Went back later in the evening for a meal, having seen the food served at lunchtime. It didn't disappoint. They managed to get us a table, although we hadn't booked on a busy Saturday night. Service was quick, friendly, but unatrosive. Definitely be back when in Glasgow.
My first visit in over 40 years Such a shame my memories of past great times shattered by very very poor overpriced food Only the excellent young staff saved some of the day Dry ham croquettes bland , A crazy attempt at a beef pie with dry overcooked beef and cheap sausage with a lump of cheap puff pastry stuck on top which was cooked separately Plus the microwaved Vegtables including old yellow tendestem
Just been in, have been in a few times but after today never again . Service crap, only take cards. More interested in the locals, if you look well to do then you get loads of attention . We had our coats on because it was freezing in there . Both had fish and chips, no taste at all and mine full of bones, also on the cold side . We were going to order bread as well but had the menu whisked away before we could When brought to waitress attention said sorry but could tell she wasn’t particularly bothered . Sorry but there are nicer pubs with better food and the staff are a lot more pleasant in Glasgow . We ll not go back , gone downhill rather spend our money elsewhere
