My favourite hotel in Northern Ireland. Staff are friendly and thoughtful. Fabulous setting right on the beach with Newcastle town centre 2 minutes walk away. Large car park and lovely little gym that provides fruit and water. The swimming pool and sauna are fantastic. You can't get a better sleep anywhere - peace and quiet plus wonderful bed. Completely wonderful!

Do not be fooled by other peoples five star reviews, THIS IS FAR FROM A FIVE STAR HOTEL, yet charges five star prices. My wife and I Had to be moved from our room because of dirt, noise and lighting issues. The meal we had in the Oak Restaurant was very poor with problems with both food and service. Similarly we had problems with staff in the bar who were inexperienced and lacked product knowledge, the bar did not have brandy snifters and tried to serve an Irish Mist Liqueur in shot glass. Eventually we were moved to a better room, which was more in keeping with the price we had been charged £190. The spa and pool were excellent although the pool was extremely busy and could have done with some supervision.

Very enjoyable facilities such as spa and swimming pool coupled with sauna and jacuzzi. Amazing views depending on what room you get but in general is a very picturesque hotel. Would highly recommend you try it out.

Iconic hotel never disappoints. Checked in on a miserable Saturday evening in February, but the walk through the front door and into the entrance with the roaring fire started a wonderful weekend. Didn't eat dinner in hotel but candlelit dining room with soft piano music looked very appealing. Very busy at breakfast both mornings but it all somehow worked with very efficient staff. Only complaint king sized double bed in room 404 turned out to be 2 singles clamped together with a dip in the mattress was quite uncomfortable. Also cheesy Sinatra singer with computer backing tracks disappointing. Soft jazz 2 piece as they do at weekends in Portmarnock Hotel would have been better. 4 out of 5.
