We are a small animal practice providing an excellent standard of health care to all pet animals. Covering Paignton, Torquay and Brixham.

Story

Silverton Veterinary Surgery is an independent small animal practice providing an excellent standard of care to pets and their owners in a friendly and welcoming manner. The practice offers their own 24hr emergency service and the vets have full access to full nursing support in emergencies and out of hours cases.

The practice has been serving the Torbay area for over 30yrs with branches in Paignton,Torquay and Brixham.

We are a tier 2 RCVS accredited practice. This means the practice has been inspected by their governing body and have been found to meet their stringent standards. To find out more about the scheme, look on www.RCVS.org.uk

My dog got spayed here. Her appointment was at 8am. We arrived early and dropped her off, telling the nurse/reception that we were in the car outside if they needed anything or anything happens at all. I am a crazy dog lady and was willing to sit in the car for hours. So we did. For 11 hours. We sat in that car all day so much so that a kind lady knocked on the window in the street asking if we were okay. During this time, we heard nothing from the vet at all. No updates, no news. For it to take so long, we were worried. Thought maybe it was a long recovery situation as she was only a tiny tiny dog. So, at 7pm, we get a phone call and our girl is ready. Considering we were sat outside, we go in. Tons of dogs were getting collected that day from their spaying too. Dog after dog came out, pit bulls, jack Russells, all in cones or shirts but walking and more than happy to see their owners again. It was like child pick up time at school.nnAnyway, our dog comes out last and she is being carried, not walking like the rest of them. She is dribbling, she couldn't keep her eyes open, she kept whimpering with pain and she was limp. We kept asking if anything went wrong or why she was like this, considering no other dog was. They said she had JUST come out of surgery. Our dog had been sat in a cage in a kennel for near 11 hours and was handed back to us with no recovery time.nnUnacceptable. Disgusting. Ask us to bring the dog in later? Ask us to come and collect her, there had been a delay. Anything, ANYTHING to have her not have to sit in a cage all day. Even hold her back for another few hours after if need be, I am not a vet who can deal with a dog who couldn't even stand on her own four legs. Absolutely vile. I do not recommend this vet to anyone and I tell everyone at every opportunity I can about it, hearing similar stories.nnKeep your pets away from here, they like to just store them in cages all day and pass them back fresh out of surgery, and it was surgery, not keyhole, because she was too small to have it. She was cut open and done that way. Amazed she came out alive in all honesty.
The staff are so friendly and put you at ease and they cared for my two dogs as if they were their own. They kept me informed throughout the procedures I would not take any of my pets anywhere else.
