Shottisham Camp Site at St Margaret's House
"We are a small, family run, quiet, rural site with 50 pitches for caravans, campervans and tents: 30 with electricity and 20 without. The site is grassy, well drained, flat, spacious and very quiet There is an abundance of wildlife around the site including owls, woodpeckers, nightingales, rabbits, hedgehogs, badgers, deer, squirrels and foxes. We are family and pet friendly and allow dogs as long as they are kept on a secure lead while on the site. Our site is ideal for simple, relaxing family holidays. There are 3 small toilet/shower blocks. The older green toilet block has two toilets and a shower each for men and for women. The new toilet blocks are unisex with toilets, showers, a disabled-access/family toilet."

Wonderful campsite, perfect for families who like to just relax in nature. Very child friendly. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Great location for various day trip options but you can enjoy a stay without needing to get back in your car because walking and biking tracks lead directly off the campsite into wonderful heath and woodland. Kids playpark and pub next door!
Fantastic campsite! The facilities are clean, tidy and well stocked. There is a lovely area you can walk around and see the animals. In the evenings you are invited to help feed the animals. The gentleman showing us around was very patient and answered all of our questions. Thank you for such a lovely visit!
Lovely campsite on a small farm with chickens wandering around. The facilities are excellent and well maintained and the owned are very friendly and accommodating. In the high season they also appear to have a cafe that sells a wide selection of food using produce from the farm. The site is also a short walk from a village pub, although this is only open for dinner later in the week and at weekends. Noteworthy details: The site has excellent disabled toilet facilities and each shower also has a stool available for those who may require them.
What a little gem of a site. Toilet and showers are impeccable and constantly cleaned. Absolutely Beautiful setting and the chickens are amazing to wake up to in the morning. A truly stress-free experience and could not recommend more highly. We have already discussed returning as soon as we can. Keep it up and thank you.Rooms: 5/5
Fantastic campsite, run by brilliant people. Clean facilities, quiet, flat pitches. Lots to do in surrounding area. Totally recommend.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely little camp site. James and Claire were very commutative in booking process and whilst there. We were first time motor homers with some silly questions. Toilets n showers were spotless. Shame about the mud! lol.
Stayed here for the weekend and was extremely disappointed with the owner. He came across as very rude and abrupt. Not a very friendly place to stay The website comes across as child friendly ,but the owner just moans when you are doing anything with your child .in a very snotty manner .cafe was also shut, which was also disappointing. Will not be staying here again, as not as it makes out on their Web page
Stayed a couple of nights whilst cycling through and what a fantastic campsite! Idyllic surroundings, wonderful green spaces to camp in and run by a really lovely couple. The ever-important toilet & shower blocks are excellent, and it's always a wonderful morning to wake up with chickens roaming just outside your tent. Plus eggs as fresh as could be imagined! One of the easiest recommendations I could ever make, will have to return for a longer stay when able! Thank you for a wonderful time!
A lovely little campsite that I don’t want to tell you about as I want to keep it a secret! We stayed Monday - Friday noon to noon during the school holidays. The site is very relaxed in terms of not needing to check into reception prior to accessing your pitch… all of which is explained very clearly in the booking confirmation email which outlines all site information. The good size pitches with or without hook-up are set in amongst mature and and some younger trees which sees the site divided into small avenue fields. The main toilet / shower facilities consist of two pretty new side by side blocks unisex that are in very good condition and are kept mega clean. Also on the site is a more traditional / older block which again is kept mega clean. Within the site there are compounds with goats, chickens, pigs and alpacas, which can be fed during an organised event for kids & adults. The site is adjacent to a kids playground and a little football pitch along with access to loads of countryside on footpaths, bridle ways and bye ways. During our stay the site never felt busy and was very quiet from about 9.30pm onwards. Thanks and see you again!
Absolutely perfect- we took a last minute overnight stay in a beautiful October weekend and were delighted. James and Claire have a lovely small holding with goats, pigs, chickens, alpacas as guards to protect the chickens from fox attack - every day a school day! and home grown fruit and veg. The camping is divided up into small fields with around 10 generous sized pitches per field surrounded by mature trees - and the free range hens! The toilet and shower blocks are spotless - the choice of sustainable loo roll says a lot about James and Claire’s general ethics and world view. The Blue Rabbit café - opening hours vary a little during the season but 9.30-12ish - sells a delicious brunch menu which Claire happily mixes and matches and was able to produce a delicious gluten free option from their own pork produce. Pizza wood fired available Friday nights if booked in advance - from the on-site pizza oven. Miles of walks around and a great parish council children’s play area just in the edge of the campsite. 5 minutes from beautiful unspoilt beaches of Shingle Street location for filing of ‘Yesterday’ and Bawdsey. Firepits for hire make for an amazing fly relaxed evening. Pub a few minutes walk. And to top it all off - dog friendly!
