We were very worried after reading reviews however the caravan we stayed in was a private one not sure if that makes a difference.nIt was lovely and clean didn't need my cleaning supplies after all and very well equipped with plenty of decent utensils and equipment. We used the pool just once yes tou di have to book but its not an issue as far as we're concerned We can't comment on the club as we didn't go but it did seem like it was always bingo. There were lots of lovely places to visit so we were tired One day my elderly mother decided ti stay and soak up the lovely weather and views from the lake and the lovely couple next door offered to keep an eye on her.
Lovely park. Had a 4 bedroom this time and the caravan was an unusual layout. There was some litter old can and dust in the van. Food was fine. The shop is totally understocked. Great swimming pools. 15 minutes or so away from the beach.
The caravan we stayed in was a good position and location. The Lakes were lovely and overall the setting was great. The thing that let it down significantly was the food in the clubhouse. £14.25 for scampi, chips and peas...the scampi was lovely ie cooked freshbut the chips and peas were hours old and not even hot. When we mentioned it to the waitress who seemed not in the least bothered. It's a shame as a decent chef would do wonders and more people would eat there. We spoke to a few owners whilst on our investigative walk on day 1 and each told us not to botherneating there whilst rolling their eyes!
Well, after an initial grump about the lakes being closed for “weed” maintenance, which meant a big disappointment for us, and the young ones….first time out fishing, bait bought, etc, and having checked no matches were on before hand, I must say; the stay was excellent. Accommodation was clean and tidy. Club house and activities for kids is v good. Bar prices reasonable, given a captive audience.nHaving now fished the lakes, it definitely needed attention to remove the weed, so point accepted. Lots of silver fish for little guys to catch. Some nice looking carp not caught by us, some nice bream and tench, along with some decent sized roach and Rudd. There was a massive perch that took one of my small roach on the way in, which was a surprise. so all in all a good weekend fishing. Staff friendly apologies to the young lady I moaned at about the closed lake and fun had by all. Will make another visits soon.
This place is losing money by not employing a full time bailiff and extra members of bar staff. Wait time for a drink at the bar is so long it's quicker to drive to the premier in Saxmundham and buy a four pack each time you want one literally!, likewise the off-site pubs have much better quality and quicker service times at cheaper prices than the awful dinner we had at the club house.nnThe lake is well stocked with a good variety, fishing has been enjoyable but the lakes need someone full time to give them the care and attention they need which would make them just that tier better.
