So we found ourselves in Herne Bay on a Tuesday and then found The Saxon Shore Wetherspoons... 'Steak Club'.. it would have been rude not too... £6.45 for a 5oz Gammon Steak and Egg with Bumbu Rum & Pepsi Max.. lovely piece of gammon, good value for money. A nice location on the opposite side of the road from the beach. The weather was lovely so we made the most of the sun and sat outside. Staff were friendly and polite. Toilets were clean. A typical Wetherspoons; lovely, you know what you are getting. A pleasant visit, we left with full belly and enjoyed a couple of drinks too
We visited Herne Bay on a day trip from London and popped into the wetherspoons for a quick pint. We found the service quick, and the staff friendly and polite. Would recommend.
A typical Wetherspoons and that's a compliment. Good atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, decent food, good selection of real ales and great value. Located right on the seafront so convenient to nip in to for a lunchtime pint and snack and also for a meal in the evening. The standards are high and the staff quite rightly ask disruptive punters to leave which some people seem to object to but which the vast majority of people appreciate.
The place has potential but staff training is definitely required. I went with my son who is 19. We ordered two Heineken 0.0%. The bartender requested ID from my son who was stood at bar the entire time I was ordering. I’ve been a doorman for 17 years I know full well that it’s not unlawful to serve a non alcoholic beverage to an under 18, including alcohol free beer. That said they are under no obligation to serve anyone, the bartender is within her rights to refuse however she should’ve done so before charging for the drinks. I was told a refund was impossible because I had used Apple Pay and didn’t physically have my I settled for giving him a J20 instead which is very slightly cheaper meaning I was technically overcharged albeit only by 22p.
Enjoyed a family lunch here. Followed by walk along the seafront and arcades.
I give this a 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. I would avoid this place. on arrival we managed to get a table that had the previous customers empties on it, our drinks were ordered to the table, the waiter looked so grumpy, dumped them down, and did not remove the empties. Later on I ordered drinks again through the app, I had only had 4 drinks sat there for 20 minutes pub was very quiet by this time. I went to the bar to find out where they were to be told the table had been blocked, because someone on the table had, had enough. My friend is a naturally louder talking person yes tipsy but by no means was she drunk. The annoyance here is that she was allowed to sit and continue drinking the pitcher she had purchased previously, and they even refilled it, because the jug was leaking ,ut the other two of us were not allowed another drink. The customer service here is, well there isn't any. I will never go here again I would rather sit and watch paint dry!
It's a Wetherspoon's. Prices are low, food was good and came quickly, which was what we wanted. It was very busy as it was half term holiday, so quite a few youngsters with their parents. We found the one remaining table, recently vacated and not cleared. Ok as far as it went.
Not the worst and not the best breakfast was passable
The local media give this place a bad review mainly from barred customer and staff who obviously couldn't do the job . This is the best of the 40 I have visited all over England and Scotland the food is great the prices are brilliant the clients are very friendly in Herne bay and beyond any doubt the Staff are exceedingly friendly always smiling it's a pleasure to go here on my frequent visits
Locals probably love the place. But if you're just visiting, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. Staff are friendly and cheerful but it's dark, crowded. Quite loud. Walked through a sea of foul smelling e ciq smoke to get in. It's a shame, as the staff really try their best. I'd give the staff 5 stars
