As a guest to one of the residents, the amount of space offered for such a low price is amazing! Could turn the cheapest room into a 1 person studio flat to be honest. Loses a star because: 1. It's very dated; rooms and hallways could do with a bit of colour/design, Maybe get an artist to paint the stairwells with a mural of Salford/Tramways' history. 2. The residence requires a key to leave the premises, while I'm sure this reduces requests of "I forgot my keys", it means in the event of any evacuation or guests, residents are required to let you out. For example: I sometimes clock in at work at 7am, those nights I cannot stay as it's too abrasive on my partner's morning for her to let me out when I leave at 5:30/6am.
Absolutely LOVE living here! I will be renewing my tenancy until my course finishes. Such incredible staff, when somethings broken its sorted right away or replaced. Having stayed in other accommodations, this is by far my favourite. Highly reccomend
Horrible horrible accommodation, the stay is not at all helpful if anything they make living her more difficult. My friend has lived in this accommodation for a year now and last week had gone to ask if she could extend her move out date by a week to which the person on the reception “Nigel” had told her that yes she can but it will come at an additional cost, which she was ready to pay And today when she went to ask if she could pay for her extension he straight up denied and said that she should’ve done this earlier, when he reality her never really told her any of this. And despite knowing that she is an international student he has denied her any sort of help and left her to be on the streets because she didn’t arrange for an accommodation till next weekend. This is how terrible their stay is, his words to her were - “this is not my problem”! I think this behaviour is totally unacceptable and very inhumane. Please don’t live here, they have terrible service with regards to maintenance also, her room mirror was broken ever since she moved in and was never fixed, the fridge stops working and all food rots Also they send in people to clean rooms at 12am which is so bad for a single girl living alone in the flat. In totality this accommodation is the worst one I have seen by far
Completely disgusting student accommodation. Had some friends staying here and the way they have been treated is disgusting. Rooms are NOT cheap, pretty small and not worth the money. The biggest issue is that the WHOLE place is infested with mice. For the whole year one of my close friends has mice in their room most days, mice wee all under their bed. A mouse got into their printer, started ripping up the carpet, ate some of their soft furnishings and even got into the oven. Tramsways responded in a very non fussed way and made little attempt to solve the problem, only sending out rentokill a few times. The traps rentokill provided weren't even triggered by the mice as they were so light so it was down to residents to try and remove the mice. My friends have lost sleep over this and there have been many times I have been in their flat and seen/heard mice. Stay well clear, they never got as much of an apology over the absolute state of the place.
Full of mice, mould and flies. Reported several times. Well that's when can get hold of them. Was even called a liar. I've still the video and picture evidence. Door never locked from word go either. Avoid
Entire accommodation is infested with mice and it has been an issue since the beginning of the year. Rat droppings everywhere, they climb up the fridge and run on the worktops which is great A lot of problems with the flat itself considering it’s ‘refurbished’. You’ll just have to deal with broken kettle and floorboards, fridge that freezes everything, washing machines often leak and stop working, sometimes the showers let out freezing cold water randomly, boilers leaking water everywhere, water and electricity often cutting out in random blocks and so much more lol
I came from India at 21 January. It has been 3 months now. This accomodation helped me getting settled. It also has a bike parking lot, great staff. My room mates are amazing. Everything in our flat is working. Thank you Tramways.
DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! tldr;; MICE, ever increasing rent, all round poor living conditions I have lived in Tramways for the past 4 years due to convenience, not choice. Upon moving in in 2018 I was told that my block was the only one which had not yet been renovated room didn't match pictures on website, kitchen was in an unfit state, lots of things not working and that it would be done next summer, this is a lie that continued until the summer of 2021. Over the past 4 years multiple parts of the flat have fallen apart/broken and will sometimes take weeks or months to be fixed. During my 3rd year we noticed the presence of a mouse which was not properly dealt with by exterminators. When starting my 4th year we realised not only us, but our entire block was infested with mice. This problem has since spread to many more of the blocks in the building and has been going on for around 6 months now. Conditions have decreased every year I have lived here but the rent has consistently increased and I'm truly unsure what I am paying for anymore. The staff are nice but the building is severely understaffed, only 1-2 people work in the office and there is only 1 person in-house for maintenance for hundreds of students. I feel I have been consistently let down in my time at Tramways and I honestly could not recommend it to anyone, especially given the current inaction on infestation.
Didn't tell us at the beginning we would have to move to a different room because they were renovating and they have no consideration of peoples courses making it even more stressful, showers leak, windows don't close properly, draws break easily, fridge always has puddles of water, doesn't let you know when you have letters only parcels, the old receptionist used to. The room is fine have a double bed with decent amount of room and ensuite. Kitchens are different sizes and are badly heated with a tiny radiator or boiling in the summer with no fan, there is a few weeks in the year that it is an alright temperature. Nigel is very understanding and tries his best unfortuantly he isn't in charge
Had a great experience for my first year, it was a cheap accommodation and it was secure with gates, staff and security are all very lovely. However it was really bad because they never gave you privacy. Staff and security would often come in and out of the flat without knocking or giving notice of when they're going to come in, I am in an all girls flat and i found it inappropriate and very embarrassing when they came in and me and some girls are in our pjs clothes. This should be addressed and something needs to be done because it was uncomfortable when you consistently hear strangers in your flat.
