What a gem. Everything you hope a country pub will be & more. Charming permises with bags of character, stunning gardens, someone works really hard & puts a lot of love into it. Our waitress who is just about to start university was delightful & really added to our experience. Menu was interesting & varied, food was great quality. I loved the lamb shish. I will come back & happily recommend. Thank you.

Last Saturday lunchtime I took my family to The Salehurst. My VERY favourite pub. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the terrace taking in the beautiful view. When ordering our food, I noticed that my favourite Halloumi Burger was not on. Bit disappointed, but need not have been, as the chef very kindly said he'd make me one. Fantastic, as they were incredibly busy with diners. The 4 of us had different meals, which were all absolutely delicious. Everyone is so friendly at The Salehurst, and I can't wait to go again. PS We had takeaway burgers last night. Outstanding!!
One of the nicest pubs I've been to in Sussex, a fantastic selection of food cooked with freshly sourced local ingredients. A wonderful view out over the valley from the back garden terrace and a lovely atmosphere inside the cozy interior.
Yesterday my family got stuck in severe snow in Robertsbridge and the amazing staff at The Salehurst Halt not only helped tow our car out of a ditch and up the hill but re-opened the kitchen for us to have some food before we got back on the road. What a wonderful cosy pub with tasty home cooked food and kind staff. A huge thank you for all your help and hospitality. We will definitely be coming back in the new year under better circumstances!
They obviously have a trained chef, as the food is good. Around £15 for a main. This is fundamentally a restaurant and people book. But no table service, except for bringing your food, so allow for time standing at the bar for drinks and paying your bill.
Amazing doggy friendly pub, proper old fashioned country locals place, this is home cooking not gastro twaddle. It is small so book if you want to eat on the weekend. They even sell a walking guide for strolls 2 to 5 miles around the area that is in the 1086 doomsday book census.
Great roasts and all round top country pub
A great pub with a friendly and relaxed ambience. The food was very good and my dietary needs were well catered for by staff who cared and were determined to send us all home happy. They did. In fact we enjoyed it so much it was hard to leave! Will definitely be returning.
It's always a pleasure to return to the Salehurst Halt. The pub offers a great range of cask beers, high quality still cider and other drinks. The food is of a very high standard indeed. Although it was raining when we visited, we enjoyed sitting in the covered section of the garden, which provides wonderful views over the Rother valley.
