The service once you get it is second to none yet the new online and phone service is APPALLING since it targets a small cohort. What about people who work and cannot spend more than 10 minutes on the phone or have access to the online form. I waited nearly 2 weeks to call after work. When they heard how bad I was, I got an outstanding response. Please, please review this as many of us are unable contact the practice in such small window.
I saw Fran Collins the Clinical Pharmacist at Saddleworth Medical practice for menopause and HRT related issues. Fran is so knowledgeable and informative and really explained everything very clearly, making the whole experience excellent. Thank you
Been Ill 3x over last 8 months and still not been able to get an appointment here. No point even being registered at this doctors you’re taking your life into your own hands. I recommend trying your luck somewhere else as this place is a joke you just get passed from pillar to post
This practice is outstanding. Doctors are excellent. The district nurses are so efficient. The care my mum has been getting is exceptional. So many people are complaining about our nhs at the moment. I cannot thank everyone for the very professional care my mum is having which is compassionate, attentive, caring and with such dignity. All the staff are doing a magnificent job under difficult circumstances. Dr. Baxter, community district nurses adult social care and all staff I cannot praise highly enough. Many many thanks
Tried to make an appointment today on my day off. I didn't expect one today but just wanted to get it booked as Im back at work next week. It's not possible to make an appointment online unless you do so Monday to Friday between 8am and 1pm. Therfore I rang in. After being on hold for quite a while the receptionist asked what was wrong and why a doctor's appointment was needed. I think this is a terrible invasion of privacy and I thought this practice had gone out with the arc. I was then informed that a telephone appointment could not be booked either unless it's at the above times. I said I did not require an urgent appointment but needed to get one booked. I was told this was not possible, they could not put me on the list and I'd have to book in next week. Apparently the receptionist puts the patient on a list for triage and a clinical person decides whether you should see a doctor nurse or no-one. You will need to be available on the same day for someone to call you back. What working person can do that? I have absolutely no doubt that this system is designed to make patients give up. It's unbelievably convaluted. I dread trying to make an appointment with this practice it's beyond stressful. The receptionist I spoke to was not rude in any way and this is a service review and not directed at the person I spoke to.
Dr N Milnes went out of his way today to help me and give me great care and treatment with my illness. Thankyou so much.
Trying to get through to the reception is impossible - 5 days later, still unable to get through after 87 attempts. Requesting a repeat prescription is useless, requested it, went to the pharmacy 5 days later only to be told it had only arrived that morning so they didn't have it in! Quite honestly one of the administratively worst doctor's surgeries I have ever had the displeasure of using, and if there were any other viable option in Saddleworth I would switch in a heartbeat.
Absolutely disgusted by this medical practice my mother had fallen and badly hurt her back and left arm that she now cannot move, we went and the receptionist would not even let us through the door and then said they wouldn’t see us, after she said you’ll need to drive to Oldham to A & E we told her that my mother is the only driver and she can’t and the receptionist still refused and wouldn’t even ask anyone to take a quick look. We are an hour away from where we live and all we wanted was someone to take a quick look that was all.
I was unsure whether to leave a ‘poor’ 2 star review as the care that I have received has been good, but I feel the need to draw attention to the issue of access. Saddleworth Practice is so very difficult to access as a patient, very difficult to speak to or get an appointment with a doctor or other medical professional phone line busy, long queue or rings out and difficult to get an appointment once through to reception as appointment slots are usually full. I am sure that access is an issue everywhere to a degree but it is particularly acute at Saddleworth Practice. As a comparator, I called Leesbrook surgery today and got straight through to reception. This seems to be the experience for most patients at Saddleworth Practice. This is what patients say: Only 30% of respondents find it easy to get through to this GP practice by phone vs Local CCG average: 60% National average: 68%. I expect that the nub of the issue is that the surgery does not have capacity staff, consultation rooms, clerical staff to care for the 30,000 population size and demographic of Saddleworth. Unfortunately, as things stand, this is a risk to patients’ health outcomes, particularly early diagnosis and treatment. The relevant parties Saddleworth Practice, Oldham CCG, GMCCG, NHS England, Oldham Council need to urgently review the surgery’s performance and capacity vs patient demand and put forward a plan to improve access so that patients get the service they need.
As far as I am concerned. Not even triage happens here. Might as well me a sign on door "Go to another trust and try your luck there"
