My favourite club in Newcastles LGBTQ+ party scene. I love the guest Drag DJs, they always offer an amazing selection of music. The atmosphere is amazing, the people you meet here are some of the friendliest in the North east. Having a Bar on each floor of the club helps regulate crowds on busy weekends, the layout is creative allowing brilliant flow through the whole venue, it is very rare you'll feel overly cramped. The bar staff are incredible, they handle the weekend rush very well while remaining friendly. The bouncers are lovely and have always helped whenever me or any of my friends have had problems. The drinks are some of the cheapest compared to other clubs. I'm here alot, and cannot reccomend enough.
Disgusting and quite frankly discriminating behaviour from security on door. Came with a group of 9 of my mates for a birthday night out. One of my mates has epilepsy, and due to this can’t apply for a provisional drivers license. As he presented his citizen card, a legal form of identification issued by the government, he was told that they did not accept it as a form of ID and to move on- why? He even went as far as to prove his age by scanning the QR code on the back of his card which brought up the website detailing his photo, name and date of birth. Rustys is disgraceful and in my eyes are also discriminatory against people with disabilities. As a result we will not be returning and would advise anyone else against visiting. Serious changes need to be made to the security system of this bar.
if I could give O stars I would after tonight. I have been coming here with my friends we have been coming here regularly for years and a new bouncer who I've never seen before racially profiled my mate and told him he wasn't allowed in because of pub watch which he isn't on and everyone else was allowed in. when I asked the bowser why he wasn't allowed in he said " I don't like you attitude you're barred." to which I said that fine.I wanted evidence as to why my mate wasn't allowed in, he said he's name is blank who is on pub watch he wasn't remotely called this name. I explained the situation to another bouncer and he said "I don't agree with that, but I can't undermine him."after that we left and told the police. we are all regulars at rusty and all have enjoyed our time there, however I don't understand at a gay bar we are allowing racism at the door blatantly
Been here tonight, for a Tuesday night quiet as you'd expect. However, rotten dirty stinking ladies loos, disgusting. Clearly not checked by staff when bar NOT busy. One loo out of order, loo floors COVERED in drink, smashed bottles, glasses, loo paper. No soap at all. Covid is still killing people, yet this place rotten told mens loos as bad. I'll be ringing environmental health tomorrow. Told bar staff, not interested!!!
Rusty's is the place to go if you're gay and on a night out in Newcastle. It's a great bar with a wide selection of drinks and friendly regulars and staff. Also, it has a stage for everyone to get up on!
Absolutely loved this venue. Went with my friends and we had a great time. Great atmosphere and top notch staff. Loved the banter from the drag Queen DJ cant wait to go back
I'm glad to see other reviews mentioning how it's packed with straight men who try to intimidate queer people. there's no supervision, gets so full of hyper masculine straight men that forget they're in a queer venue and start judging people or making out with girls reminding us that we are a minority in our 'safe' space. Newcastle night life is overrated in general, but this place has went downhill in the past few years and nothing gets done about. Had two transphobic incidents here and I'm never going back. Like someone said this is a place where night outs go to die. Don't waste your time. Quite upset after tonight and it's put me in such a negative headspace.
My cousin made a comment about older people my cousin was looking for someone his age and the refused us in...bouncer is *ssh*l*. Any body know how I can contact the manager please?
alright if you’re there at the right time with a group, but if you’re going as a gay person expecting to see others don’t even bother. mostly full of straight scary men and i can’t say i’ve ever been without getting harassed or intimidated by one. tunes aren’t the best either
Rusty's is where good nights out go to die. There's nothing wrong with the place but in my experience every time a night out has ended there it has ended in tragedy. Extremely cursed location but tbh they might have the best Skittles in newcastle.
