Mission

Royal Liverpool is a non-profit making, member's club. Visitor's are most welcome to come along and experience the great links and clubhouse. Hoylake is known for it's great hospitality and warm welcome from members and staff alike. It also has one of the finest collections of golf memorabilia outside of St.Andrews.

Products

Royal Liverpool has a single 18 hole course, which is a seaside links. For the Open, the course changed its layout slightly, so that the old 16th hole (a huge par 5) is now the 18th thus making the old 17 and 18 the first and second holes. In the winter of 09/10 the course has undergone a number of changes to bunkering and other hazards, also in May a new green complex on the 17th (1st during the Open) will be opened for general play. There will also be some new championship tees added with the overall effect ensuring that this tough links will become an even greater test of golf.

There are a variety of visitor packages and Open Day/Competition packages for Corporate events/Society days. Ideal for those who enjoy the challenge of classic links golf on a top rated venue.

We visited on July 24, the day after the British Open 2023. The clubhouse is an elegant English building. The course was where the British Open was being played until the day before, and I had a wonderful memory of playing the same course!
Visited here for the Open Championship. Slight delay in queuing to get in while bags were checked, more course entrances in future? Great viewing around the course and polite helpful Marshalls. Large queues at the toilets and some of the food and drink facilities. Need to find a way making these available more readily around the course instead of all being in one cluster. All in all tho a great day was had so thanks Royal Liverpool
Had the privilege of playing in the R&A 9 hole challenge a week before The Open which is a dream opportunity to play such a course. Tough challenge but fantastic course, especially when doing 'The Walk" up the 18th fairway with the stand therealbeit no spectators!. Wonderful clubhouse with excellent facilities and welcoming staff. Thanks to the Club Captain for hosting our evening dinner good and service superb! Hi and and play if you get the opportunity.
Attended The Open at Royal Liverpool Golf Club as a spectator!!. It's a beautiful course and made for large attendances. The facilities provided were great, including the access via trains to and from Hoylake. The great big on course spaces allowed for multiple stands that gave great views across greens, fairways, and teeboxes. The local volunteers were courteous and helpful. The course itself has enormous greens with countless options for pins. The pot bunkers are a massive test for mere mortal golfers. The multiple tee boxes per hole give huge variations on hole lengths. The fairways are flatter than the greens too! It is a great Open venue and a true test for a golfer of any handicap and ability.
Went here with my three sons, to watch The Open. Despite the weather, it rained all day, we had a a wonderful day. The event was superbly organized and our hospitality package was magnificent.
Went to the 151st open. Stunning setting, lovely weather, the helpers around the course were both knowledgeable and helpful. A wonderful event laid on by both Royal Liverpool GC and the R&A. Would definitely love to play it, but only when my handicap is a bit lower
Played on October 27 with my wife Rita and we had a golf day to remember. We felt very welcomed at the club and our caddies Mark and Brian made our experience truly memorable. Both of us hitting the green on No 17 Little Eye was a career golf highlight. We both watched two days of the Open back in July sitting in the stands at 17 and playing this oursleves was a bucket list item for us. I hope we can come back soon.
Great day in Liverpool at The Open. Organisation, superb, food tasty, drinks of various kinds and golf memorable. For anyone who likes their golf it is a must experience, at least once.
This visit was for The Open 23, same as last visit. Absolutely beautiful and such high standards around the club and course… Brilliance
What a fantastic location for the British Open staff and volunteers were amazing well done for hosting such a fabulous event
