Course is in ok condition, but the fairways desperately need spraying as they are covered in daisies and dandelions and have a job to find your ball, greens also need a feed to bring them up to scratch ! wont take much to make this a nice course and a good test of golf. other than few little issues enjoyed it and will be back to see how the course progresses through the next few months,
Played for the first time at hoylake in 10 years. My god its gone downhill. I heard it was bad but I thought I'd check it out. The tees were diabolical. Only just better than the fairways. Fairways and greens desperately need cutting. Far too long. Bunkers were terrible. What a shame it used to be a good course
This course is now been closed by Wirral Borough Council. May 2022.
Not a bad course. Fairways rough in parts, greens a bit slow but I see some improvements also. Bunkers looking better, not as many weeds and tees not as cut up. Keep up the good work.
Usually a decent Muni, unfortunately it is in a bit of a mess. Am sure there will be budget in place for when the pros want to practice in a few years. Majority of greens are patchy and bare, fairways haven't been cut, lose a ball from a good tee shot amongst the daisies is a nightmare. Bunkers have very little sand, what is there is concrete hard and no rakes available. Even the tee boxes are overgrown with weeds. Avoid at all costs and use the other Wirral Municipals.
Practice here quite frequently, the course is unplayable due to the poor condition of most of the greens, its been like this for 3or4 years! I have no idea how the greenkeepers get away with it, they would be sacked if they didn't work for the council! Arrowe Park and Brackenwood are much better!
Course in bad condition, greens need cutting, fairways need cutting, bunkers need sand, rough needs cutting, tee boxes need cutting, this could be a great course but is always neglected and dont blame the lock down as its always like this, you never see a green keeper. Gone on far to long and the cheeky council wants to put the price up. No clubs or societies will play there soon.
Very disappointing. Played in June and it seems to have gone downhill since then. Bunkers full of weeds and run down feeling about the place. How can one muni course run by WBC be so poor compared with the Warren or Arrowe Park?
It's an ok course and the green keepers have dont alot of work on it over the last couple of years. still massive drainage problems on the front 9. Whish players would look after it a bit more. some show no respect not preparing divets and pitch parks etc. Greens dont play consistently throughout the 18. but for a pay and plat municipal it's one of the better ones.
Played at Hoylake Municipal on Sat 2nd June 2018. Course in very poor condition. Fairways had loose grass clippings all over them. Greens not flat. Very uneven & fluffy. Lots of weeds growing on greens. No 150 markers anywhere on course. Will not play there again.
