ROWE VETERINARY GROUP

Story

Exceptional care for pets and their owners.
We have been providing support to the Bristol area for 70 years.
The Rowe Veterinary Group was founded in 1948 by Mr John Rowe, father of Richard one of our current partners and grandfather of Nelson, one of our equine vets.

The practice has expanded over the years and now has four branches. As well as providing a high quality first opinion practice for dogs, cats, horses, small furries, birds and exotic animals, we are home to a referral service, Rowe Referrals. We are always there to take care of your pet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We understand the special relationship that people have with their animals, and we are committed to providing the individual quality of care that you would expect. We offer a full range of professional healthcare services for your pet in a friendly environment and, whenever possible, with the member of staff of your choice.

We offer the best Veterinary Service and value possible and try to make this available to you whenever it is needed. We have routine surgeries Monday to Friday (between 9am and 6.30pm) and Saturday mornings. We will endeavour to make an appointment with your preferred Veterinary surgeon and at a convenient time for you. We offer a 24-hour service outside of these times. The phone will always be personally answered by the on duty team. In an emergency a Veterinary Surgeon will see you immediately at any time of the day or night.

Recently experienced 600% increase in routine care costs without any explanation beforehand. No answer to email asking for explanation for future treatment and no published costs to help expectations. Rarely possible to see same vet. Many vets leave within very short period of time. Very good set up but reluctantly seems we have to look for new vet.

Fantastic vets, really friendly staff and all Obviously animal lovers. Have treated our cats since we moved to the area and never had a complaint, they were brilliant when we had to have our oldest cat Boston put to sleep, she was 20 and the kindness and respect we had was exceptional even down to a hand written card a few days afterwards. Highly recommended

I knew that the time would come that Maggie, my little blind cocker spaniel would need to have an eye removed as it was causing problems, I was referred to Rowe. I arrived early and was treated with the utmost kindness and was even made a coffee by the exceptionally friendly reception staff. Maggie saw James, and was tested for all possibilities before he indeed, confirmed the need for an eye removal, which was duly carried out last week. I was ensured that I could ring for reassurance at any point and again the kindness when I did was greatly appreciated. David rang to reassure me as soon as her operation had been completed, the conversation was not rushed even though he was obviously very busy (they had fitted me in without question when I asked if it could be done the next day, after deliberating for a while). I was allowed to pick her up the same day as she was restless being away from home. I had some concerns over the weekend about swelling and sent pictures, a vet rang back as promised to reassure me. Nothing but kindness, great care and consideration throughout. Thank you.

I'm extremely disappointed with my most recent experience at Rowe Veterinary Group Bradley Stoke. Previous experiences have been generally good. However, my dog was admitted today on the advice of 2 different vets from the group to have her teeth cleaned. So I duly booked her in. I was advised that she might need an extraction so was unsurprised to be phoned mid procedure to be told she needed a canine extracting and I needed to be told there was a risk of her jaw breaking when it was removed. After a short discussion I agreed that the tooth needed to come out. Imagine my horror when an hour or so later the vet (Chris) informed me that all had gone well and that he had extracted 17 teeth! That's nearly half of them! No discussion at all. I know the vet is the expert and we are just the client but we are the owners and have principle duty of care. I expect some kind of communication before someone undertakes such actions. It is after all completely irreversible. I believe the owner should have some choice in the matter having been informed by the vet of the facts and any advise they might give. We are intelligent people capable of making informed decisions regarding what is after all, OUR PET! I feel this was a serious miscommunication error and I also feel all trust is gone. I will not be able to entrust any of my dogs into the care of this particular vet for fear of what he could potentially decide to do without prior communication. Badly done - very badly done indeed.

Good personal care. Had a specialist eye surgery on site. Clean waiting room and plenty of staff. Had some quibbles on insurance / communication, which to their credit they eventually resolved for us. Parking and access is good.
